So I was at the courthouse last night. |

For some reason we never got our Oregon ballots in the mail, so we went in to put in provisional ballots. Now, we could have done that any time over the last few weeks. But being a smart ass, I figured we'd time it so that by the time we got back to the car the race would be called for Obama, and then I could take personal responsibility for his win.
Anyhoo... While I was waiting for my wife to finish voting, I took a look at the various cases the courthouse had in the hall way. There were lots of trophies that a local sheriff had won at equestrian events for mounted officers, there were ribbons from state fairs, there was a copy of the Constitution, that sort of thing. The thing that struck my eye were copies of the terms of surrender for Japan and Germany from WWII. They were signed by whatever was left of their high commands, and witnessed by people like Nimitz, and other people I didn't recognize. People from New Zealand, or the Soviet High Command, etc. The language of the terms was standard boilerplate. We promise to issue cease fires, we promise not to scuttle our ships, we promise we'll cooperate to the best of our ability with conquering allied forces.
I was very much reminded of those documents I saw last night, with Bush's surrender speech this morning.

Actually have not listened to anything he has said for quite some time now... But he and his cronies are doing their best to sabotage anything they can... there is a law/rule whatever that the incoming president can stop any changes they have made in the last 90 days, bush did it to Clinton. So bush and co are making sure they make all the changes they can before they ninety day line.
