It took one of the best Dem candidates ever to beat a so-so Repub |

during a crumbling economy, with the sitting President owning record low approval ratings, during two unpopular wars.
Man..I hope America continues to evolve.

I'll say: "The best in decades."

had a HUGE 'favorable' rating in the previous year. Bouncing GHWB out of office felt really good.
Obama was a very good candidate and I think he'll be a good president too. I learned to like him - and Hillary Clinton - a whole lot more through the process. I wish either had run instead of Gore and Kerry, who were the wimps that Obama, and Clinton, were not.

9. Exactly. We need to now focus on fixing the problems in our media. |
|
Otherwise we'll always need a candidate like him to win.

And yet, there are large geographical regions that still fully supported that crap.

I've never seen a candidate held to such a (almost impossibly) high standard. He won by exceeding each expectation thrown his way.
No one can ever say he didn't earn this office. He has set a new standard to which future candidates will be measured.

14. Yes, but the press really really liked him. The Wash Post and NYT columnists... |

really rooted for him. In the NYT on Sunday one admitted to being upset when Obama didn't respond to attacks fervently enough.

I hope they have heard our crys of outrage...we no longer will allow such hate filled lying campaign tactics to ensure one is victorious...
The fight has just begun....we cannot nor should we ever again become complacent.

17. That's the power of a media conglomerated into right wing hands. |
|
All those so-called professional pundits who tried so hard to pump up the viability of the desperate flip flopper and his fundamentalist VP-- I wish they each had to face a Highlight Reel of their best McShame pumping statements before they were allowed to pontificate any further.
I will be interested to see how our bought & paid for broadcast media star reporters handle this transition. Now they'll be reporting on a more liberal administration while still working for right wing network owners worth billions.
That will be interesting to see. And how can we manage to break up those media conglomerates. The discourse was much more varied when we had 50 media companies rather than our current Mega Five.
