They now know they're not gonna be able to steam roll a bunch of shit over on Obama. Obama sets the agenda, not the other way around.

1. But isn't Rham DLC material?
Was his job the tradeoff for Hillary's support?

19. Emmanuel is DLC. He has done alot of damage to populist Democratic candidates
who do not follow the DLC corporatist agenda.

20. I was talking about the "trade-off for Hillary" business.
That's ridiculous.

8. Obama needs a few pitbulls around him.
Can you imagine all the people in this country, in DC and around the world who are going to want a piece of him? I'm sure they're trying to get through to him now, bi-passing Boosh, LOL.

14. I doubt similarity between rahm and joe;
not the same personality or character AT ALL! and definitely wouldn't want to share a cuppa with rahm.

Saw him and his co-author at bookstore some time ago; discussion afterwards. was about how dems can win. I fergit all the details, but late in the show I asked whether the 50-state approach would/should hold any weight, and received real grumpy look from him.

Heard part of radio interview today with mickey edwards, former R member, who has written book about how to save reps or something. Complained about change in approach among reps after gingrich, 'team' first, not country or constituents, to which he objects, as having ruined everything. Rahm may take that same approach; dunno.

A direction we thought we could change, but apparently have not.

10. Really? I think Barack will make him check his DLC baggage at the door. I think he picked
him because he is tough, loyal and knows DC in and out. I hope I am right.

12. I think results, jobs, a handle on this economy, visibly bi-partisan, will be change.
Talking honestly to the country will be change. We have to get a realistic grasp of the possible, and the pace of when it's possible.

13. Don't disappoint me madfloridian
You of all people know what Obama is doing. He always said he'd try to hire the best people possible. And Obama has always stuck to his values. What do you expect him to do? Pick people right off DU? He picked the most qualified person. And Obama still sets the agenda!

21. It was the first announced pick. Rahm's distaste of those of us
who tried to bring changes is well known. It is like a message.

It is sad to have it happen so soon. And very disheartening.

If Rahm is the best person to be in control of the people in this administration...then I feel very sad today.

Kiss the Ring

I really thought Obama would want a more respectful presence running so much. It seems to go against the nature of Obama, and I find it disheartening.

Sorry you are disappointed in me, but I think honesty is needed.

22. You might want to read this from FDL last November.
http://firedoglake.com/2007/11/10/blue-america-welcomes-josh-hoyt-lets-not-put-the-republicans-in-charge/

"Two weeks ago he sent a DCCC-connected candidate training a video of himself haranguing congressional candidates to "move right" on immigration or risk defeat at the hands of Republicans. This is similar to the terrible advice he shoved down candidates' throats last year, although then he was demanding they move to the right on Iraq, dooming the candidacies of Lois Murphy, Francine Busby, Ken Lucas, Tammy Duckworth, Diane Farrell and several others who went along with his demands. Yesterday Markos asked a blaring question at DailyKos: Is Rahm racist, or merely scared?. While walking the picket line at the WGA strike at Fox today Jane and I came up with the idea of inviting Emanuel over to FDL to ask him why he thinks adopting Tom Tancredo's immigration ideas is a good idea and why he's unleashed Heath Shuler to do just that.

But then we thought a far better idea would be to invite one of Emanuel's constituents over.

Meet Josh Hoyt, someone whom both Pach and John Laesch said is the go-to guy for all things regarding immigrants rights in Illinois. Josh has been in the activist/organizing "business" for over 30 years, much of it in the immigrant communities. He's known Emanuel since 1980 and more recently he's been testifying in front of the House Judiciary Committee and debating on both O'Reilly's and Glenn Beck's GOP propaganda shows. He runs the largest immigrants' rights organization in Illinois (130 groups and organizations)-- the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights."

It sort of comes down to when the heck do we take stances on anything?

I thought we were heading in a different direction, one not so ready to give in on everything to win.

But hey if that disappoints you so be it.

I haven't even got to his eff yous to the party chairman. I don't intend to either.

24. I hope that is correct. I truly do.
I realize I won't even know many of his picks to surround him, nor will I really care.

But that is one man who took a stand against standing up for things that Democrats ought to stand up for.

It was just too much too soon.

18. No, in fact, he needs to make it clear to Pelosi and Reid that he wants action
not this foot dragging. They have what they need, so move or move out.

Sorry, but I'm disgusted with both and I think that getting rid of them would be the first plus for him.
