Help me with my brother - He says he is done with extreme right wing AND extreme left wing BS

He compares the extreme left as just as bad as Rush and hannity. He says it is absolutely no different. How can I explain to him? How can I get him to come over to the good side? There is nothing wrong with the extreme left imo, I am proud to be extreme left !!! He has supported Obama all along but whenever I would send anything from DU he wouldn't read it, says DU is too far left. He wants the middle he says. DU is full of CONSPIRACY theories in his opinion. Help me talk him down.

you'll find the truth. Hannity, Rush and the MSM aren't going to deliver it. Point out to him how you knew things, things about the bush administration, about the shrub, about our foreign policy, long before it became common knowledge, because you read it here on this left-wing site. Ask him if ignorance is bliss. Ask him if he isn't clever enough to see the 99% truth through the 1% of inevitable bullshit here on DU.

I know repukes who are disgusted with their own party but won't change because we lefties are "whackos." My sincere thought is, you aren't sharp enough to get it, but you can't tell them that, they won't believe you. It's a tough situation.

On the overall politcal scale, though, we're a lot more centrist than much of the modern Republican Party. A lot of them are fascist in all but name. There are very few on DU that could be called the leftist equivalent of Communist.

Compare them to the Democratic Party.

If he is open minded and truly done with the extreme right, he should be open to the proposition that there are gradations in the middle.

Explain a real Socialist - Castro or whoever, and how they are different from the Democrats. The problem is the right exaggerates when it uses the term on liberals and even centrists.

We just won an election and it seems to me that your brother has it right. This is one country, and our new president wants to be EVERYONE's president.
