THIS IS BULLSHIT!!!! I STOOD IN LINE OVER 3 FUCKING HOURS!! BULLSHIT!!!!!
Georgia’s low voter turnout baffles some

Despite the buzz surrounding this year’s election and heavy early turnout, a lower percentage of Georgia voters actually turned out this year than in 2004, according to the Secretary of State’s office.

So far — and there are still absentee ballots outstanding — 74.1 percent of active registered voters cast ballot in this election, said Matt Carrothers, spokesman for the Secretary of State’s office.

n the 2004 presidential election, 77.3 percent voted, he said.

As of early afternoon Wednesday, 3,852,636 of Georgia’s 5,184,000 million “active” voters cast ballots in the presidential election, according to the Secretary of State’s office. About 2 million, or 53 percent of those who voted this year, did so before Election Day, officials said.

Carrothers said “active” voters are those who are newly registered, have updated registration, have mailed information to the state office or have voted in the last two federal elections.

All told, there are about 5.8 million total registered voters.

Carrothers said 3,285,140 people voted in the 2004 election. He said that year there were 4,248, 802 active voters and 4,951,955 total.

Election officials in many counties had predicted that 90 percent of registered voters would go to the polls this year. Georgia added more than half a million new voters to the rolls this year.

7. There are still questions about the 2002 Georgia elections
So Georgia has been a problem for a long time.

Maybe they will find a bunch of "lost" votes and Georgia will start changing - but I won't hold my breath

3. But there fewer voting places, and fewer voting machines, and those machines took longer to use
When they worked at all, that is.

The real point was voter supression. "Wow, I don't want to wait in line to vote. I'll come back tomorrow, when the line is shorter."

5. K&R for the voter suppression file. A lot of anomalies this time too.
Thanks in advance to election integrity groups who will continue fighting for national bottom line standards to prevent thievery in 2010 too.

National bottom line standards for voting: paper ballots and random auditing

6. For the people trying to say Greg Palast, Bobby Kennedy, and Brad Friedman were full of shit.
Just look at Georgia. Blatantly stolen since 2002. Turnout usually trumps fraud, but somehow those bastards have everything covered.

When your election system is more corrupt than Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania, that's quite an achievement.

8. I hear GA is supposed to turn blue.
Hasn't it been said that 1.5 million or so provisional ballots have yet to be counted to determine who won and apparently made up of AA community. That would put Obama way in the lead there and give Dems the State seat.

10. I agree.
The lines I have seen this year were way longer.

I also think they padded mccains totals by flipping/stealing votes from Barr.

14. I heard a woman attorney call up a local progressive radio show this a.m.
and say that she was dispatched up to Milwaukee (the "Dick Kay" program is in Chicago)to a "working class" precinct which was 82% black had vote suppression problems yesterday.

She said that police cars were blocking the entrance and people couldn't get in so someone "dropped a dime" and contacted the Obama poll watching people.
