First puppy.
Does anyone have a breed idea on the Obama's new pup? I'm hoping they go with a Humane Society rescue. I bet it will be a small dog, as the girls are still pretty young.

1. I know one of the girls, I think Malia, is allergic...
A mutt with a bit of poodle in the mix would be good.

36. They said the dog will come from a pound

A Labradoodle at a pound? I guess it's possible. My parents recently went against my advice, and got one.
I'm an animal rescuer and wanted them to get a pound mutt. Their new dog has a high pitched bark and
barks all the time!

My three mutts are naturally well-behaved dogs. They should have listened to their liberal daughter for
a change!

I sure know one that is carefully-bred for temperament and beauty and from very fine lines. :)

Oh, and they'd love the price, because it would be theirs for a small donation to rescue.

She was born deaf and has become the best dog I've ever been privileged to care for. She knows around twelve signs and minds better than my kids. So, so smart. Your red/blue cattle dogs are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.

1/2 lab. Big, fuzzy, goofy dogs, but very lovable and not much shedding.

Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 05:57 PM by VolcanoJen
... then PLEASE no puppy-mill dog, and no stupid mix like "labradoodle" or "cockapoo." Purchase the dog from a reputable breeder.

Of course I'm reasonably certain someone will give the dog, with Barack and Michelle's permission, as a gift to the children on Inauguration Day. And it will probably be a great dog with a wonderful, champion bloodline raised by terrific breeders who truly take pride in their work and compassionate care.

I couldn't stand Bush, but I had a real thing for Barney. :-)

A pure-bred rescue or a shelter mutt would be good choice, but I'm just not getting some of the hatred around here for hybrid breeds. They carry good attributes from both breeds.
