Time to boycott the RW Talk Show advertisers
Am I the only who thinks we should really consider this seriously?

The vitriolic hate speech these idiots are allowed to spew is beyond belief.

Maybe it is time we ask their advertisers to either spend equally on LW radios or stop advertising on RW radios, or else face a boycott.

I don't see why we can't be organized and efficient.

2. Ya wanna really piss em off?
Advocate the return of some form of the fairness doctrine. Letters to the editor, Contact your congress critters. In every conversation, bring up the return of the fairness doctrine.

3. Would the fairness doctrine require Air America to carry right wingers...
as a balance to the hosts they have now?

4. Maybe you could contact DU Admin
See if maybe they could start a 'RW Talk Radio' forum. That way, we could (maybe) have an alphabetical list of advertisers/Shows.

6. I have no problem with the right wing hosts having a voice, I am just glad the american people are..
beginning to see through it now, and knowing to take it with a grain of salt and fact check for themselves.

But living in TX I wish I had a LW station to balance it out, sure would be nice.

Oh and one more thing

Hannity...SUCK IT!!!! LOL

10. i work in the advertising business. clients HATE letters from people like that.
of course, some of them advertise on RW radio because rush, et. al., are their spiritual brothers. which is a very good reason not to spend money with them.

i would love to see someone compile an ongoing list of advertisers on rush, hannity, michael savage, laura ingraham, and guys in the local markets. polite, well-written letters should be sent to those advertisers chastening them for sponsoring hateful rhetoric that's tearing our country apart, and say we won't spend another penny with them.

it may not make someone like GM dump their media buy, but you'd see subtle shifts.

11. Agreed! This is another way we can have Barack's back as he gets to work.
We have to make sure his path is kept clear.

My husband, who called it yesterday - "Rout!" - started out the next morning believing most of the bad guys would see the light and dial down their bile, having been chastened and realizing that times have changed and it's more important to get with the program, and that those "few" who'd still deal in spreading shit wouldn't matter anymore. By the time he'd scanned around, via Pox News and more, to get a sense of the talking heads, he was starting to think differently.

We actually had an argument about it - about my missing the point and still being pessimistic instead of optimistic and not recognizing that everyone was going to be changing. Well, he discovered that not everybody will be eager to change and start doing the adult thing and helping, not trying to hinder or backslide.

I told him to imagine an advancing army. They're moving through the countryside on patrol, after a successful conquest. All is well, or at least seems so. Things are mellow. The resistance has been thwarted. And that MAY even be true. But you STILL have to have a few troops taking up the rear, scanning around behind them as the phalanx moves forward, armed and ready, to make sure nothing's sneaking around behind them to mount any assault from the rear. Because a vanquished enemy often doesn't like to remain vanquished.

12. I agree with this approach
I am not for the Fairness Doctrine.

We need to bring the attention from the advertisers on the fact that 1-advertising on progressive radio pays dividends and that 2-what some of these RW talkers say is so over the top insanely unamerican that they may want to consider putting some pressure on these guys to have them come down to their senses.

I worked for a trade publisher which fired the entire staff of a certain trade magazine for "redactional differences". When the advertisers learned of what happened, half of them moved their advertising budget from our media to that of competitors, sometimes cancelling ridealong deals (which are very juicy deals in the trade publishing business).

This magazine went from making 2 million dollars a year to 2/3 of 1 million dollars and never recovered.

We need to start compiling the list of the advertisers of these radios, which would mean local observers.

I'd hate to have to listen myself but I guess digital recording with skipping options would help.
