Any word about local elections nationwide?
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 09:11 PM by Onlooker
In 2006, I read an article saying that Dean's strategy of strengthening state parties helped Democrats win a lot of local races (town and city hall, state assembly, etc.). As I understood it, this was an important part to the 50 state strategy in that it gave the Obama campaign local organizations and lists to build on.

Has anyone seen or read anything to indicate how Democrats did in those hundreds or thousands of local races that were decided yesterday?

2. Great night in Nevada
Democrats took control of the state senate for the first time in maybe 15 years, knocking out two incumbents. One of them was wing nut Bob Beers, who ran second in the GOP gov primary in 2006, so he was well known and it's awesome to see him gone.

This gives Democrats control of both branches in the legislature, vital with redistricting coming up and probably another House seat.

The all powerful Clark County Commission is also now blue.

Clark County really showed up this time after underachieving for more than a decade. The Hispanic numbers are finally being felt. I always keep my sample ballot and track how my choices fared. Normally it's more Ls than Ws, but last night I couldn't believe I was marking one W after another. :)

4. The Dems were able to gain in Michigan house
The Democrats won control of the Michigan house back in 2006. This year, they increased their lead by 8. Hopefully we can win back the state Senate in 2010....only need to win 2 or 3 seats (depending on who's Governor). Winning the Senate is very important since they control our redistricting.
