My Best Friend Cried With Me Today
We have been best friends since we were 24 - (we are in our 50's now)

Life takes a lot of twists and turns. I held her babies when they were infants. She held mine. One of her sons is scheduled to leave for Iraq. He is in the Army. Her other son is gay.

We cried because maybe, just maybe, her youngest son will not be left in Iraq for a year or more to... well... we don't say the "die" word.

We cried because Prop 8 passed and her oldest son, who is gay, has been told that he is less than a real citizen of this state and of this country.

Oh what a world.

6. It is a crazy
world. My girlfriend is very happy about Obama but very pissed off by prop 8...

You know that my son, who is 9, is also named Ian. Both of my kids are lucky in that they know that I harbor no ill will towards gay people - if one of them or both were to be gay, they would feel "normal." Now the state is telling them they are less than normal and do not deserve the same rights we should all enjoy.

Peace to you Binka. :)

7. kick for you and for the disappointment
of the Prop 8, Amendment 2 results.

But I am determined to see the glass half full and I think an Obama presidency does indeed promise change.
