Would Susan Collins or Olympia Snowe
be a good pick for the cabinet? If so, we could pick up another Senator that way.

1. I think it will be near impossible

To get any sitting Republican to give up their Senate seat...they are already in deep shit. I also think the Republicans can ill afford to lose one of their last ... what will it be 2 moderates?

2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they are moderates, so we'd probably like to keep them in the
Senate. Their replacements may be rw wackadoodles.

6. No, I think the Reps

Need to keep them there.

Actually...if one of the seats in Maine were to open up its VERY POSSIBLE we could replace either with a fairly Liberal Democrat. In the least, we could flip the seat it's my belief.

While Maine may not be as Liberal as Vermont or Massachusetts, it would not be like pulling a moderate Republican out of Oklahoma...THAT seat WOULD be filled by a whack job.

I also believe the Reps need to keep the seat and I think they also need moderate voices to keep their party from completely drifting out to hinterland.

8. Their replacements would probably be Democrats.
Both the US Congressmen from Maine are Democrats.

Maine's electoral votes go to Democrats in recent presidential elections.

4. Olympia Snowe might fit well in a minor cabinet post.

Susan Collins is just another Repug political hack who manages to get OK PR. Obama shouldn't touch her with a 10 foot pole.

5. Offer one of them Ambassador to France.
Or Ambassador to Australia.

Or wherever they'd like to spend time.

9. Snowe and Collins will likely vote for a good bit of President Obama's agenda
There's a lot of spoils that come with crossing party lines along with the fact that Obama just won a landslide in Maine. Collins and Snowe are popular in Maine but if they want to remain popular, they're not going to suddenly start towing GOP line.

14. They'd probably be better off in the Senate for our side.
It looks like we won't get to 60 so to vote for cloture to kill the filibusters, Harry Reid is going to need to flip the moderates like Olympia Snowe to help out. Otherwise, I don't think we can risk having another Republican Senator come in who's more conservative than their predecessor.
