3. My Irish Co-Worker...

I have a co-worker from Ireland. Now to be fair, her sister lives here and has either already become (or is in the process of becoming) an American citizen. Her sister married an American and her children are Americans, so that has a lot to do with it.

I don't think I ever really asked her why she was still an Irish citizen, it seemed a little jingoistic. Why assume this is really the best country? Why assume otehr people can't love their own country as much as we love ours?

She knew I was working with the Obama Campaign and referenced the election results this morning. She then mentioned that she was now ready to try and become an American citizen.

I almost cried.
