Senator Obama, adopt your puppy from high kill Gaston, NC shelter!!
They gas 600 to 800 wonderful, adoptable dogs and puppies a month. I heard that their animal control officer hates his job, loves to throw dogs, cats, puppies and kittens in the gas chamber together, watch them fight before they die. No kidding. Also, if you want to adopt, you have to go into the kennel and get the dog/puppy because they won't help you. There are a few good employees, but most are horrendous. I just rescued three wonderful lab puppies from there. Absolutely gorgeous, look pure to me.

There are many horrible high kill shelters in the south, many that still gas, but GAston, North Carolina is one of the worst. Just horrible. Get your puppy there, President Obama!!! I can send you the pictures of the puppies from there that I just adopted out!

1. Adopting from a high kill shelter doesn't support those who do their best to
discourage needless euthanasia. Adopt from no-kills.

3. There are very few no kills in the south
so you don't have too many choices down there.

4. Oh, yeah, SPCA doesn't get involved, there are many
horrendous dog pounds for them to help. PETA, same thing. I know a woman who runs another shelter in NC, and she is reporting abuses to the NC vet's office, but really, no one cares down there, they are "just dogs." Google Kent Williams - he adopted a German Shepherd from a pound he was involved with, he didn't keep her contained, she got pregnant, so he dumped her back into the high kill shelter he got her from. She had puppies on cold, hard concrete two days later.

Kent Williams just ran for his SC Senate Seat unopposed. Nice.

5. PETA knows what's going on there and has tried for many years
to get them to stop. They won't it seems.

As far as the Obama's adopting, as I hear it they ARE planning on adopting but they are looking to adopt from a pure-breed rescue group. His daughters are allergic to dogs and they have to get a, *shudder*, poodle. (Sorry, I love all animals, really, but I cannot stand poodles.)

6. I didn't like poodles either, until i learned that they are
really hunting dogs, and very tough. We have just make them into hothouse flowers, but they really aren't!

7. I think my issue with Poodles is as follows
I've met many mean ones. Kinda put me off the entire breed. I once had an Akita who hated German Shepards and I found him to be a great judge of character, so now I look at German Shepards with a critical eye. ;)

9. So sad.
I read some horror stories during Katrina about the cavalier attitude about pets in the south.

I have a part pitbull (6 yrs) and a cat (age 8) that I adopted from the SPCA that are so damaged they bear the emotional and physical scars to this day (my cat as a 5-week old feral kitten was drop-kicked by kids breaking multiple bones - my dog so fearful sometimes she's almost catatonic ).

I was so happy to hear the Obamas will adopt a dog from a shelter/rescue. I hope you send the campaign an email with the above info. Maybe one of their many, many animals will get lucky. Very, very lucky. I hear the White House is pretty nice.

Thanks for posting this.
