Charlie Rose Tonight...a fascinating discussion about Obama.
with Jon Meacham and Evan Thomas of Newsweek; a more intimate look at Obama from their 'embedded'
position in the long campaign. They just can't quite quantify him...lol! But nonetheless they have
some fascinating insights. (video not yet available).

The current copy of Newsweek has many details not yet revealed by the media about their
experience on the road with the candidates.

2. One thing they said that I don't think is true, is that the U.S. (and Obama) fall primarily in the
center-right column (our 'default' setting) as compared to more progressive countries. As an example they said that's why we don't already have universal healthcare and why they doubt Obama will deliver that.

I think the people WOULD prefer universal healthcare IF we had a truly representative government
and did not have such strong corporate and special interest lobbiests with big money corrupting
our system.

3. Evan Thomas is one of the quiet shills...he's a long time friend of William Weld, a true BFEE tool,
and one with chameleon-like abilities to present himself as a moderate Republican while protecting the fascist agenda - he was a key legal fixer and cleanup figure on BCCI matters for GHWBush. Weld is NOT to be trusted, no matter WHAT he says, and even when it sounds good to the left.

4. I can't believe the comments on that web site!
Forgive me, I have no idea who Charlie Rose is, but is he some right wint-nut? The comments are all anti-Obama, saying he's "creepy"??? What's up with that shit?

5. That's related to a statement that was made by one of the guests
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 11:23 AM by Dover
who was trying to describe Obama's strangely quiet stoicism (they were searching for words to describe it).
He said Obama's quiet control was sort of 'cultishly creepy' (or something to that effect),
and Charlie Rose (the interviewer) couldn't let that go by, so he repeated it back to the guy
in the form of a question, and the fellow recanted and said, "Not creepy...just (and I can't remember the word he found, but think he said 'stoic').

When the guest said "creepy" I just knew that would be the term lifted from the interview that those trying to create a scary image of Obama would take away from the conversation. Whether the guest meant for that to happen, or was just having trouble coming up with the proper adjective is hard to say. But it was clear they were frustrated at not being able to penetrate or sum up Obama in a way they were comfortable with. I suspect both guests are politically on the opposite side of the fence and that statement revealed more about THEM than Obama.
