John McCain will return to the Senate with diminished power
and influence. He's no longer the head of the party. He's not in the leadership. Repukes there know what a crappy campaign he ran. The wingnuts in the Senate never had much but scorn for him. The American people rejected him. I doubt he'll run again in 2 years.

Begin the fade into irrelevance.

1. I wonder how he feels now about turning Kerry down for the VP slot in '04?

2. Factor in his illness, as well.
I think that McCain is sicker than the public knows.

3. You sure that really happened?
IIRC, that was more like a rumor that went around for a week.

7. Biden was pushing it...Kerry would've considered it seriously IF McCain switched parties
as Daschle was close at the time to getting McCain to switch. Someone stepped in a reigned McCain back - probably pics of him with his girlfriend and promises of support for 2008.

4. Palin's not getting a totally friendly welcome in Alaska either.
Her only hope is that somehow she can somehow wrangle Stevens' Senate seat away from him. Otherwise she'll serve out her term as Governor and shrivel away.

5. AZ is stuck with him another 2 years but we have a solid field of em challengers and with our hugely
different demographics from the last few years, we WILL get a Democrat in his seat. Kyl's up in '10 too and I'd call him vulnerable.

Wish us luck (or whatever is your chosen ethereal good fortune).

6. I wonder if his DC staff will begin to be nicer to me when I call now? Hmmm--bet he doesn't get the
"creme de la creme" of staff anymore, either...

Lrofl:

8. What power? Remember suspending his campaign to make sure the bailout passed? It didn't bc Pubs
voted against it. Republicans don't like him. It's why he felt he had to put nutter dumb Palin on his ticket. It's one of the reasons why he lost.
