Sarah Palin's lack of knowledge problem: PALIN DOES NOT BELIEVE she is ignorant or
recognize that she needs to educate herself. And neither do her backers. THAT IS THE HUGE PROBLEM.
And if she becomes a senator from Alaska, she will be back in center stage with all her hate, ignorance, and Christian bible thumpers behind her. Scary, ain't it?

1. Charles Darwin said it best of all.
"People with the least knowledge have the most confidence."

5. I disagree. She knows she's ignorant. She's all about faking it...

Everything this woman has done, her diarrhea of the mouth, her eagerness to attack anyone who questions her -- remember when she even attacked people who were just asking her to speak louder at a campaign event? -- these things clearly indicate that she knows she's ignorant.

As to why, if reports are true, she got petulant and refused to let staffers give her remedial geography lessons, I suspect they didn't properly conceal their exasperation or amazement at her lack of basic depth. Because she's always covering up what she doesn't know, she resorted to her standard tactic and went on the offensive against them.

It seems so obvious that this woman has gone through her life faking it. She has the speaking and grammatical ability of a second or third year high school student and the civics and geography ability of a first or second year high school student.

She exhibits many characteristics of a person trying to fake her way through a job interview, or a schoolkid trying to fake her way through a report on a book she hasn't read.

She's neither exceptionally bright nor exceptionally stupid (but she's certainly exceptionally ignorant for the job she was seeking to get). She's clever, but with attention deficit issues and with the domineering, defensive attitude of an insecure person.

Observations of knowledge aren't very subjective. There are objective standards that can be applied to evaluate her capabilities, and to gauge her knowledge better than my guesstimate.

What amazes me is the number of people -- many of them very smart themselves -- who apply these standards to make an impartial assessment of her. Anyone who has ever interacted with a poseur can see those traits in her.

7. Now I don't know what is more scary: an ignoramus who is unaware of her ignorance
or an ignoramus who thinks that it really does not matter and perhaps. She also knows that to her target audience it does not matter and she can just pose and attack her way out of any occassion where knowledge might be required.

9. I think ignorance by choice is more dangerous. Bush is a good example. But neither is good. /nt

6. She said she's an intellectual
but, I assume, not the effete, elite type of intellectual.

10. to people like Palin, knowledge doesn't matter . . . only faith does . . .
in fact, when knowledge interferes with or contradicts faith, it must be discarded . . . fucked up way of looking at the world, but apparently she has lots of friends who believe similarly . . .

11. Exactly. She thinks she knows enough to be President, and she doesn't
even realize what she doesn't know. I think it is scarier that her supporters think it's okay that she's that ignorant. They say she can learn it, because she's smart. Well, if she's reached her age and still doesn't know the difference between a country and a continent, then I wouldn't have much hope that she had the smarts it takes to fill in her learning gap by 2012. It's stunning to me that her supporters think this is the person that should lead their party.

12. I'll never forget the moment in college that I realized how much
knowledge there was out there that I did NOT know.

An older relative (who was a college professor) told me, "Welcome to the world of the educated."

I've never forgotten that moment.

Palin is so ignorant that she has no conception of just how ignorant she truly is... and THAT is why she is so dangerous.

13. Palin is the most dangerous kind of neo-con going
because she not only thinks she is perfect, but she plays to the most ignorant faction of people in this country who think she's going to be their saviour.
