Check in if you're ready to let go of your anger today...
I realized yesterday that my country is not as fucked up as I thought it was, at least as far as the people go.

I realized that the majority of the people out there, from every ideological spectrum, is ready to put aside their prejudices, their fears and their anger in order to move forward to make this country a better place.

Our survival probably depends on it.

I'm ready to let it go, I really don't give a crap about the past anymore, I'm ready to move forward. I'll probably have to remind myself of that from time to time, but at least I'm willing to try.

1. I need more time.
The last eight years has sucked so bad. There is so much work to do, and with Impeach Obama websites popping up already, I'm still pissed off.

3. I'm willing to try too, BUT.....
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 09:19 AM by sparosnare
there is still a segment of our population who will not be reasonable, who will not give Obama a chance and will continue to be hateful. They will do everything in their power to make sure he fails.

Those people - I cannot forgive or tolerate.

government are still alive and will continue. Vigilance is my co-pilot.

6. I'm real pissed off at the last 8 years..
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 09:19 AM by Doityourself
Don't think I'll ever be able to let go of how I feel about them...people suffered and died, needlessly!

It is criminal.

I shant forget, for that is when it can happen again.

And I say, it should never happen again!

11. I'm hearing it contastantly too. From adults.
:banghead: Things like... "he'll be a great President" "if he makes it". And honestly, I cant stand it. It angers every bone in my body.

Let it go? Not right now. Not even close.

17. Don't assume.
My husband's nephew is there right now, on his second tour. I understand the anger that we are still there...but the peace comes from knowing things will be set right..It WILL be set right. We have elected a man that knows we should never have been there in the first place.

10. Mine was gone yesterday. I am saddened by the homophobia that still runs
rampant, but I believe these egregious amendments will fall in a few years. I know my kids don't give a rat's ass about
this issue, except to support their gay friends in whatever they want. Old prejudices and religious bigotry die slowly...

Electing the Dems was a start, the snowball has started rolling and it's only a matter of time before these remnants of
the past start to be vanquished. I believe we'll see it in my lifetime (I am Obama's age).

I am not angry anymore, just determined. Hopeful, and determined.

16. We waste much energy on anger. The anger needs to be focused and replaced with action
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 09:35 AM by nc4bo
We've been carrying anger for so long and it destroys from within but by directing our anger into action.....even preventative, uncorruptible laws (w/real punishment), accountability and oversight, will go much further than harboring raw anger.

(Believe me when I say I understand the anger. Any one who claims to love America should be righteously angry)

It's one of my hopes of this Obama Administration and one of the reasons I fully intend to stay involved in our nation's politics. *Now* we have an opportunity to make real changes happen.

It makes me angry. I think I will be angry until every last one of our troops comes home safe and sound.

19. It wasn't even a conscious decision
I just couldn't hold it at the same time that I was being so filled with relief and joy.

I'm so hopeful and grateful.

Doesn't mean I've forgotten, or forgiven, or that I don't know how much work we have to do - I guess it's just the realization that we've just experienced an 11th hour reprieve from the darkness that we've been steadily descending into for so long.

Besides - I don't want to be a "sore winner". I couldn't understand that about the freepers in 2000 or 2004 and it's not something I want to emulate. Yesterday I was moved to thank my manager, a registered Republican who voted Bush in 2000, didn't vote in 2004, and voted for Obama this year. We're in a battleground state, she was pressured and robo-called incessantly, but she rose above party and ignorant propaganda to help our candidate to victory. She wasn't the only Republican to do so. This landslide, in part, is due to people like her and I'm glad to have her on board. A lot of essentially good people, who for whatever reason identify themselves with the Republican party stepped outside their "box" to vote for a Democratic presidential candidate.

I want to follow Obama's example and heal our country. Not be a nation divided.

civil rights take a long time and it's going to be a struggle, but people will eventually wake up, I promise, and I hope it's in our lifetimes.
