As a former Howard Dean volunteer...
I can't tell you how happy I was to watch Chris Matthews heap praise on Governor Chairman Dr. Dean last night on Hardball. He was positively effusive. He gave him credit for getting this ball rolling and giving the word "you" power during the 04 election. I looked but couldn't find the video. Hopefully it gets up there sooner or later. It was fantastic. part of me would like to see get a cabinet position like HHS. Another part says he should stay at the DNC and continue to push the 50 state strategy. The other, the part that loves the man, wants to see him go to Vermont so he can be with his family (I have no idea if his family have come down to DC). Regardless, DEANIACS, REPRESENT!!!!:)

1. And unlike Emanuel and Schumer, Dean was humble.
He gave all the credit, as he always does, to the candidates and the people who voted them in. Amazing man.

4. True that, especially since Rahm fought Dean on the 50-state plan
The media needs to do its research as opposed to doing lap dances for potential Obama staff members.

Yeah, I'm naive :)

2. One thing that became apparent in the 2004 primary to ALL the Dem candidates was the horrific
condition of Dem party infrastructure in so many states.

In SC there were NO Dem party offices in some counties, and in NC there were major cities that had no official offices and the party was being run out of the back room of a FLOWER SHOP.

I heard horror stories about Ohio's collapsed party infrastructure after 2000 and it just got worse in 2004.

Dean saw the job that HAD to be done, and set about to fix it for ALL Dem candidates and ALL Dem voters - job one: strengthen party infrastructure STATE BY STATE.
