My suggestion to the Obama family: Poo-Mix Rescue

Malia Obama reportedly wants a goldendoodle, a mix between a golden retriever and a standard poodle.

This rescue organization can help them find a poodle mix in need. They pull animals from shelters and foster them until they find their "forever" homes. I will warn you, they do take in animals in severe need and post these "urgent" animals on the front-page of their site. Be sure to check out "Hope" on their site. She's a sick little girl, but she's in good hands and should recover just fine.

This would, I think, be the perfect option for the Obama family to find their poodle mix. Dealing with rescues is great because the foster family gets to know the temperament of the dog and can really provide insightful information about that dog in particular and the breed in general. This is a particularly great option for families with children.

I'm a proud mom of three rescue/shelter dogs and I'm just thrilled that the Obamas are seriously considering adopting one for themselves.

2. I love goldendoodles. They're a little too crazy for my current lifestyle...

They have A LOT of energy and need to run and run...and run some more.

I think the girls would have fun with one.
