Did John McCain looked relieved when he made his concession speech?
Looked a bit like that to me.

Kind of a moment of realization: "I just escaped a shit load of trouble!"

He would have had a Democratic Congress to deal with and some highly pissed off voters.

1. The Christian Phalangists were organizing prayer vigils for his death already, and he knew it.

6. I saw a bumper sticker here...."I'm voting for Sarah and the old guy."
McCain would have been a speed bump.

5. Ah yes - me too.
Palin, of course, looked pissed off. And pissed on. Got a little shower from Democratic voters instead of Podd.

3. He looked medicated to me.
He was so calm and emotionless, I think anti-anxiety drugs played a part.

7. I agree
I think McCain was vastly relieved to lose the election, given that he would actually have to do some work in the next four years, given the collapse of the economy and all.

8. Wouldn't surprise me if..
He was probably real happy to be out from under all the handlers that helped him screw up his campaign so well. He can now go back to the Senate and lead a much more sedate life. He won't be running for President again and who knows may even decide to retire at the end of his term but it has to be easier than have a bunch of idiots telling you to do and say stupid stuff all the time.

10. I thought so. He seemed more relaxed than he'd been in months.
I think he had been horrified at the thought of spending four years with Sarah Palin yapping in his ear.

14. The last week of the campaign he looked like he was phoning it in
And it wasn't just the prospect of being hamstrung by a Dem controlled congress that did it.

I think he finally realized how badly he had fucked up by letting William Kristol put palin on the ticket and what a pain in the ass it was going to be to deal with her and her tribe of igloo trash for four years.
