"The Color Of Victory," local newspaper pics from Switzerland. (dial-up warning)
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 01:32 PM by Call Me Wesley
Here are a few pages of our local newspaper today, and I'll keep this issue.

Front page: "The Color Of Victory."

Page two:

Page three, interview with former State Prosecutor Dick Marty, who received 1987 an Award of Honor of the United States Department of Justice and investigated secret CIA prisons in Europe since 2005.

"This is my America," he says.

Below are two quotes from Micheline Calmy-Rey, former President of Switzerland and still head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (the Swiss foreign minister), Social Democrat: "He's one of us," and from Pascal Couchepin, actual President of Switzerland 2008, "Towards new horizons."

-------------------------------------------

And, of course, this article is titled "End of a nightmare."

So, that's how we feel. Heidi was shopping today, and in the furniture store was 'Yes we can' playing, and the owner of the kiosk greeted her with 'Gobama!.'

4. Wowzer! I am absolutely astounded by the resemblance of Chimpolini in that
last photo to dear Bela Lugosi in his latter days.

"Listen... My children of the night, what beautiful music they make...":wow:

15. I cried a little in the furniture store, I have to admit.
I thought, stupidly I guess, that the song, "Yes, we can," was a strictly American thing. Then, when the guy in the kiosk greeted me with a kiss and "Gobama!" I pretty much lost it. I don't care much whether I'm liked personally, but it's difficult to ignore those little signs that we as Americans have elected someone who is restoring RESPECT to us.

Thanks for photographing our local newspaper pages and posting them, love. I think we Murkins might sometimes overlook what our decisions in the voting booth can mean to the rest of the world.

26. Thank you! This warms my heart to see. Too many
Americans think what other countries think of us isn't important but they don't seem to realize how interconnected we are and how important it is to have others on our side so we can work together towards issues that touch us all instead of them thinking we've lost our collective minds.

28. That's what I said above,
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 03:27 PM by Call Me Wesley
about the insulation that the Bush regime brought this country to. The US isn't an island, unless you want to be one, but then be prepared to be very alone. This election has shown otherwise and opened itself to the world, or this one planet we all inhabit, again. :hi:

33. My dear Call Me Wesley!
Oh, sweetie!

Thank you for posting these!

It's great to see how much love there is internationally for Obama!

We truly have taken a very important and gigantic step towards restoring our very tarnished image...

And we've done it the best way: By electing a man who truly IS just what he has represented himself to be.

Thank you, thank you!

And a shout-out to Heidi!

K&R

35. Had an email from one of my cousins in Luxembourg.
The reaction there is similarly jubilant.

Interestingly, because it was one part of an email to several relatives on family geneaology, it started an email exchange between me and a cousin in Philadelphia who I've seen once in maybe 25 years.

She is as excited as I am.
