I Cried
I Cried
JC Garrett

I was trying to finish this poem when I suddenly realized I didn't need to finish it. I want you to finish it. Anyone who cried, write a verse.

With the dawning of the day
When all the old is passed away
When Freedom came of age -
I cried.

When the sorrow of our shame
Was consumed in freedom's flames
And Justice slipped its rusted chains -
I cried.

When the whisper became a roar
Hate and fear were shown the door
And freedom rang from shore to shore -
I cried.

Traded the hangin' tree
For the tree of Liberty
Thank God Almighty, we're free -

And I cried.
