John McCain needs to publicly APOLOGIZE to the American People NOW!
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 02:45 PM by zulchzulu
When John McCain gave his concession speech, I was watching it in a large gathering at Monona Terrace in Madison, WI. I was so pissed at how he ran his campaign into a ditch and opened up old wounds in nearly every speech he gave against Barack Obama. I yelled at the top of my longs to laughter "John, apologize now!" I really did mean it despite it being seen as a joke.

Looking at these stories from parents having their children chastised for them voting for Obama is proof enough that McCain was intent on not only damaging Obama with hints that he's a terrorist, a socialist or someone who doesn't love his country and massaging the dark depths of the American psyche with racism. He was giving nourishment to the hateful, the homophobic and those who are looking for a reason to stop history in the making.

McCain needs to publicly openly and with full force apologize for those campaign messages. He needs to renounce what Palin said and was implying in her speeches as well. I don't want her to apologize because she is too inept at actually being intelligent and would probably see it as a chance for her to garble her way into some kind of 2012 presidential pitch.

Obama can give him enough money to do a two minute statement denouncing what he said to the American people and tell them to FUCKING GROW UP.

I know McCain doesn't have the balls to do it... but it would be a very good thing to bring up and possibly set a petition for.

5. The problem with that is his supporters
They don't forget. They will remain hateful, bigoted punks. A McCain apology is needed to help stifle the venom spat from his followers' mouths.

2. I would gladly forgo any apology
if I could be sure I would never have to look at or listen to either of them again.

7. yes. I have heard more openly racist and ugly things said the past two weeks
than I had in a decade or two. Seriously.

I am the kind of person who always speaks up, and always tries to at least explain why the racist stuff makes no sense, but there have been a time or two when I was so shocked I did not know what to say.

10. What would be the point?
He did some terrible things, but we're the only people he really offended out there, and even if he did apologize (don't hold your breath) all that would happen is a bunch of "apology not accepted asshole!" threads would pop up on here.

That's it. I don't like what he did, but no one who IS really mad at him would forgive him anyway.
