Help desperately needed in California
Northern California's 4th Congressional District has been a Republican stronghold for as long as I can remember - and I've lived in this area for 30 years now. Our previous representative didn't run for re-election, as he was heavily implicated in the Jack Abramoff scandal.

The Democratic challenger is an outstanding candidate by the unlikely name of Charlie Brown. https://www.charliebrownforcongress.org/index.php

He is currently losing by about 400 votes - with 40,000 provisional and absentee ballots yet to be counted. His opponent, a Republican from Southern California, was brought in to try and hold it for the Republicans.

Please read the below email I just received, and if you can, contribute to the effort of getting Charlie elected. And please pass this message on to anyone you know who might help.

Obama, Prop 8, and Charlie Brown were my three highest priority elections. The song says that "Two out of Three ain't Bad", but One out of Three truly sucks! Please help!

Thanks!

https://www.charliebrownforcongress.org/contribute.php

I just received this email from the Brown Campaign:

A record number of voters turned out for Tuesday's election.

And, after more than 300,000 ballots were cast in CA-04, the race is tied. The current difference stands at less than half of 1% (less than 500 votes).

The race is way too close to call. And there are more than 40,000 vote-by-mail and provisional ballots still to be counted.

Once all the votes are tallied, we are confident that Charlie Brown will be the 4 th District's next Congressman, but we need your help to make sure every vote is counted.

Please Contribute to our Election Protection Fund.

Yesterday, Tom McClintock hired an election attorney and brought in a team of lawyers to "watch" the locations where absentee and provisional ballots are being counted.

With McClintock's massive fundraising list, he has the financial ability to hire as many lawyers as he needs to challenge the votes of thousands of people who faithfully cast their ballots.

We need to combat this, but that takes resources.

Please click here to make a donation to help us fight for every last vote.

McClintock has history with recounts, and was on the short end of a fight with Steve Westly in 2002 after a similar situation, so we know he's going fight.

But rest assured that we will not give up - we will not surrender - we will not rest until we make sure that every single vote is counted.

Please donate right now to ensure a fair process to count the remaining votes.

Many of us have looked forward to this post-election day for such a long time - as a country we are headed in a new direction, with so many new and excited voters participating in the process, we cannot afford to allow new voters to become disenchanted with the system already.

We all remember what happened the last time a right-wing politician started challenging election results. Your additional contribution of $25, $50 or whatever you can afford will go a long way to helping prevent a repeat of history.

Thank you,

Todd Stenhouse
Campaign Manager

P.S. - Please contribute today , and forward this email to friends, neighbors, family and all those interested in maintaining the integrity of our electoral process.

10. About that, I think

He narrowly lost 2 years ago against John Doolittle, so three years sounds right.

Charlie could really do some good here if we can get him in. Thanks for the kick! :hi:

12. :-(
I hate kicking my own thread, but this isn't vanity, and GDP is scrolling fast today. This is important to a huge number of people who haven't had any adequate representation in over 30 years.

If you can't donate, please :kick: and/or REC! :hi:

However, there must be a way to use the obama campaign networks to get out this call to action.

Uncounted ballots in Placer, Nevada counties stall election

Greyson Howard / Sierra Sun

TAHOE CITY/TRUCKEE — It could be weeks until many local races are decided, after area counties reported thousands of absentee ballots still uncounted.

While County Web sites posted all precincts as reporting late Tuesday night, officials said potentially tens of thousands of absentee ballots are still uncounted.

...

“Four years ago I got 3,700 votes, and Josh got 3,300, and this year so far we both have about 2,200,” said current Mayor and candidate Barbara Green. “Something is not quite right.”

The missing votes could have repercussions as far reaching as the tightly-contested 4th Congressional District race between Republican Tom McClintock and Democrat Charlie Brown, Green said.

...

Some local representatives expressed concern with the speed at which local race results became available election night.

My darling dad has worked his butt off on the phones for Charlie Brown, who will be a fantastic Congressman.

As for McClintock, in my dad's words, he's a "carpetbagging chickenhawk". I love you dad!

I know he's going to win if he can just stay in the fight.

My 78 year old Dad has been working his butt off as well, up in Oregon as a Precinct Chair.

Love these folks working their hearts out for their grandkid's sakes!

I love your Dad too, thanks!!!

31. And I'm lovin on your Dad, too!
Give him a  for me!

Some geezers (a moniker my Dad proudly wears) rock it hard, and they are diehard Dems of the highest order.

We were even a bit worried. He's 74 and though in really good health, needs to get a little rest every now and then, but he was totally in his element and bringing the ground game home. He loves, thrives on a good ground game, and they are really starting to get that going on in Placer County.

He registered over 1,000 Dems since 2004, and he is not going to stop until he turns that place BLUE!

I hope it happens soon, but if it doesn't he's going to be there in 2010. Charlie Brown is a shining light and a true American hero.

32. Come on Nevada County, please deliver!
We don't need another Carpet Bagging Chicken Hawk Republican in that district!

Doolittle, who held the seat before was Tom Delay's little lap dog. That district deserves better, they NEED a good Democrat!

Please donate if you can.
