It'll cause derision in the future. I really think it was the wording of the prop that caused it.

11. I was surprised by the loss. Dems needed to put more money into the campaign |
|
Saw more pro prop-8 ads than anti... and the pro prop-8 ads featured children.

14. I voted Obama in GA, backed Martin in GA, plus Franken, Begich, Musgrove, Tinklenberg, & Lunsford |
|
Obama didn't win GA (state's more crooked than a dog's hind leg) Martin hasn't won in GA either, Bruce Lunsford lost, Ronnie Musgrove lost, El Tinklenberg lost, Franken isn't winning and Begich hasn't yet won, although polls showed him well in the lead, almost a shoe in. I made a total pest of myself begging people to donate to these Senate campaigns because I believed it was critical to win a cooperative Senate for President Obama. A few of these races looked like sure pickups only to end in defeat or "murky outcomes" that are still not decided.
All of those disappointments put together don't begin to compare to the disappointment of seeing hate legislation on a roll in California and other states.

15. OTHER: Failure of Texas Democrats to capitalize on 2006 gains |
|
For a little while, it looked like Texas could be in play. And we had some wonderful Democratic candidates this year. But only a handful of them won, and we lost Nick Lampson. He was supposed to hold on to DeLay's former district, but it slipped right through his fingers.
Our state party mechanism is in serious trouble. We need help.

For the life of me, I can NOT figure out why some people are so freaked out by the GLTB community.
And I can't believe that even minorities, who themselves have (and still do) experienced discrimination would vote to pass that ugly ugly proposition.

but Al Franken's race cast a pretty significant shadow on an otherwise wonderful night.
I still find myself scouring for info on the ballot count, just as I had done daily for the presidential race. I really, really hope he pulls this one out.

How I wanted to see the day when O'Leily would have to report, "Today President Obama met with Senator Franken......"
Also, Bachmann's astonishing win, and of course prop h8.

I really didn't think it would pass.
Additionally, I have a disappointment that wasn't listed. I wish the Democrats had put money into MI-11. My Congressman Thaddeus McCotter was re-elect but only won by 6% (51-45). His opponent was an unknown lawyer who only spent $16,000 (McCotter spent $600,000). There were zero TV advertisements so McCotter pretty much won because of name recognition. With a little funding we could've taken down another Republican :(
