Do you think Barr helped Obama in NC and IN? |
|
It looks like he siphoned enough votes from McAsterick to sink his campaign in those two states.

1. No. Most of his voters wouldn't have voted at all. |

Then again many of those would not have voted at all out of sheer disgust of the Republican party.

3. I think that Barr helped the most in NC with the gubernatorial election. |
|
Barr got 3% of the vote for governor, which is the margin by which the Democrat won.
I haven't seen figures on how much Barr siphoned off in the presidential. If Barr helped there, he would have helped in the mountains, which has a fair number of Libertarians. I have a hunch that they voted for McCain this year, though, as those western NC Libertarians tend to be racists. That and the influence of hate radio probably had them in a panic.

4. I think it is likely, yes. |
|
Obama's margin of victory in NC was *very* slim. (I'm still pleased as hell that he won, though, first time NC has gone for a Democrat for President since Carter in 1976!) Very few of Barr's voters would have voted for Obama, the bulk (*I* think) would have voted for McCain otherwise and that would have been enough to tip the state to McCain. Not that it would have made any difference in the overall results. As a lifelong NC'er who is also a "ultra-leftist radical," :-) I've very happy Barr was on the ballot in NC.
