So I can't get married? Let's see the nation get by without "The Gay"! |
|
Fuck 'em - All the gay don't go to work. Let's see the 'em get by without us. "Wantcha hair done? Too bad." Starbucks all shut down. Retail stores empty. Home Depot reports big losses cuz all the lesbians staying home. "Oh boo-hoo, I don't care what you damn living room looks like." "You need flowers? Get some seeds and grow 'em your damn self." "Guess you gonna have to get off you ass serve you damn self some dinner." Airline flights all canceled cuz they ain't got no fight attendants. Broadway shows go dark. Singers ain't got back up dancers. TV shows all boring. PE class canceled. Anderson Cooper 360 not on the air. Liza Minnelli can't get no date. I say we do it. We can shut this country down!

And no shit about Broadway going dark. Some of the most enduring, valuable contributions to Broadway were by gay men...Oscar Hammerstein II, Lorenz Hart, Stephen Sondheim, Tony Kushner. I remember a quote Fran Leibowitz once made..."If you removed homosexuals from popular culture, you'd end up with Let's Make a Deal". I probably got the quote wrong. Sorry.
I'm pissed and angry right with you. I cried Tuesday night...and not just because of Obama winning.

13. This is the big taint on the election |
|
I was campaigning with some african-americans and it disgusted me another black person joined our group and then proceded to tell another one, who turns out was gay, that he (the non-gay one) was going to pray for him to be purged of that sin.
Civil Rights is for everyone, not just specific skin colors or sexual preference. And unfortunately I've met other people of color who demand their equal rights but will be absolutely horrible to our GLBT community.
You ARE a married man not only in my eyes, the eyes of all DUers but in all of the world. This fight is NOT done yet - not by a longshot!

27. I'm the only one in my entire family that believe Gays should be able to marry... |
|
I've tried discussing it with them, and they tell me..I need prayer!! When I try to get them to understand how unfair it is, and get them to see it as discrimination as black people, they tell me I need prayer!!
they can't be moved... :-(

I agree that nothing short of a huge strike from all in the gay community would be enough to finally get some progress done on this civil rights issue.

34. California has asked to go deeper down |
|
they have insulted a huge tax base, and a prime generator of innovation and economic activity. Enough of that hell hole. Vancouver is great and so is Toronto, with wonderful stages to shoot on. Botston is cool and equality loving. London is my all time favorite anyway, and also is an equality loving place. Paris is and always will be so much better than LA in every way. I don't need California. That much I know.

35. I read a great article once about how hypocritical it is |
|
for people to employ nearly all-gay staffs to put on their weddings, and yet want to exclude gays from marriage.
When I first started looking into this "issue," my first thought was, "But marriage IS gay!" The flowers, clothes, music, cakes, decorations, etc. associated in my mind with marriage are stereotypically (and actually?) the province of gay people, gay men in particular.
So why do people who are excited about something so... gay want to keep gay people from doing it? I am completely bewildered by this.
