Who will be the Puke candidate in 2012? My money's on Bill Frist. |
|
I think Frist would have been the shoo-in this time around had he not tangled with the SEC. He's only 56 years old and he's a hardcore Crazy with credentials.
Who do you think...other than Palin?

Frist was Rove's golden boy -- he was considered the frontrunner for '08 back in '02. But his abysmal leadership of the Senate and his various controversies have utterly destroyed any national ambitions he may have had.
Besides, the GOP is very top-down. The GOP poobahs have long since abandoned him. And he has no grassroots support either. He won't even run.

But that was taken off the table when his "blind" investments found eyes.
But now he's repairing his image by doing feel-good TV commercials for Coca-Cola.
Next up I suspect he'll be organizing fund-raisers for "the troops."

14. Mittens will be picked, Jindal is not white enough for the Repugs |
|
Palin is an idiot, and republicans now see this-
Only the clinically insane christian zealots will pick her... I doubt we'll see her in the public eye anytime soon-
Mitt Romney is the most likely Republican nominee for 2012-
Jindal is not white enough for the Republicans..
Guliani has too many extra marital affairs in his closet...

16. Too Many Skeletons For Frist - Romney Will Be The Nominee..... |
|
I believe that the Repugs are having buyers remorse with McCain and are sorry they didn't pick Romney in the first place.
As an aside - just after the Repug primaries ended I was in San Diego at a medical conference. On my way back home at the San Diego Airport I was snaking through the security line line when I looked up at the line behind me on the other side of the barrier maze. I saw this clean cut guy and thought to myself - what company is this guy from - I know him. A couple of seconds after I had that thought - I realized I was looking at Mitt Romney. When we came side to side me facing toward the security x-ray machines and he getting ready to snake around and face the same way - I extended my hand to him and said "nice to meet you Governor or should I say Mr. Vice President" (note this is before McCain picked Palin) he laughed and shook my hand and said good to meet you too. Then the line started to move again so we couldn't continue talking.
Anyway - here was Mitt Romney - traveling by himself. Carrying a briefcase with (I believe) a laptop. He was dressed in khaki's and a plaid shirt. No security guards. And this is the best of it - he was flying Southwest Airlines with the rest of us 'schlubs'. Now here is a kabillionaire that can afford to fly in his own private jet - better yet - he could probably buy and airline - but he was "Flying Southwest" with his A Boarding Pass.
Needless to say - I was impressed and had a new respect for the guy.
Now I will never vote for him - but I just thought it was cool that he seemed just like regular folk like you and I.
Only one other guy with his young kid recognized him at the gate area and went up to say 'hi' to him. Other than that - he went unrecognized.

even a Mormon can run for the presidency.
Mr.Vice President was just a way of breaking the ice. This was before McCain made his VP choice and I just thought it was a humorous way of not scaring him off.

18. It all depends on how Obama does, quite frankly. |
|
Jindal won't jump into the race if Obama looks unbeatable. Speaking frankly and trying to remove all biases here - given where the country is today, I don't see any way Obama doesn't bring us back up at least a little, and that'll be enough to make him untouchable in 2012. So I really don't think Jindal will bother jumping into a losing effort.
Frist isn't a bad idea. I also don't think Palin would be a bad idea as a throwaway nominee. Both of those choices will be pulling back from the old ideas bin for their party, however, so it is going to hinge on whether or not the GOP is serious about doing soulsearching. My guess is that they won't be ready for that and that they'll need another 4 years in the wilderness before they wake up.
My guess? Palin/Gingrich 2012.

Palin is dead on arrival.
Jindal is too young (was born in '71), but there will be a push in some GOP circles to make him into the "Republican Obama."

26. I think it depends on where the GOP goes in the next three years |
|
If moderates bail on the party for either the Libertarians or the Democrats, then we won't see a Romney candidacy because the fundies will never support a mormon. Frist maybe, but more likely someone nobody's heard of, kind of the way Sarah Palin just lurched out of nowhere and did the nails-on-chalkboard thing for 3 months.
I doubt the fundies will bail on the party, simply because they've basically taken it over and couldn't be kicked out if the moderates tried. Dino Rossi, a right-wing scumbag of the highest order, lost his rematch with Christine Gregoire in WA state, and the Republicans here are bitching that he's not conservative ENOUGH and that's why he lost. I think the only thing the moderates can do at this point is destroy Palin politically as an act of vengeance, which is basically what Fox News is doing right now.
