Why else would the popular vote margin be 5% less than the Gallup forecast ... That is huge ...

They predicted a 55-44 margin the day before .. which is a 11 point spread ... so it seems implausibe that the actual were so far off the average...

this is not likely unless the standard deviation of sample averages are large ( I seriously doubt that the Std.Dev is more that 1.5%) which means that the final result was more than 3 sigmas off .... which assuming a normal distribution has a probability of 0.05% ( that is 1 in 200)

1. They ran the voter protection lawyers ragged
here in Dayton challenging voters.

2. I agree
I also think that we were partially saved by several factors, including the youth/cell phone crowd which the Republicans did not expect to actually vote. I also think it helped that a lot of their disenfranchisement attempts failed.

Finally, I think they shot themselves in the foot with McCain/Palin, but I won't complain about that.

Despite winning, we still need to look at solving our election problems. Also, look at the discrepancies in Alaska.http://shannynmoore.wordpress.com/2008/11/06/stolen-election-in-alaska

pass it on.

3. I've never seen lawyers challenge voters.
I guess they don't do it around here. But 5% of 100 mil voters is a lot. If they can steal 5 mil votes? :scared:

4. Yet the margin was in line with Pew, who also predicted '04
So either Gallup isn't taking fraud into account when they run the #'s and Pew is, or Gallup's methodology is more flawed than Pew's.
