Anyone else think that Kerry would be much better suited for Veteran's Affairs than Sec. State? |
|
I think Richardson will be Sec. State. I think if Kerry were named to Vet Affairs he would be very passionate in that role, he would do a great job. Theresa could start an NPO and they could both be involved in healing and looking out for our brave fighting men and women. Also, it would give him a chance to reclaim his public persona to what it rightfully should be - War Hero and Patriot, from what he was portrayed as by the swiftboaters.

3. I'd put Paul Rieckoff in at Veterans Affairs. |

That'd shake things up a bit.

7. Yeah it would. You think he has the resume for a cab level spot though? |
|
You could put him Vet Affairs working under Kerry. He could specialize in Iraq War Vets, maybe head that department.

And Rieckoff certainly has the proper judgment and outlook to run VA, and his time leading the IAVA shows that he should be able to handle running a bureaucracy.

And I really wish Kerry would be Senate Majority Leader because heaven knows we need someone to kick some ass in that position.

6. Kerry should stay in the senate. Kennedy is old and ailing. Need veteran leadership |
|
in Massachusettes. In fact, other than replacements of Obama and Biden in the Senate, I am demanding a moratorium on any more talk of Dem senators heading to cabinet posts.

There's a lot of big names coming out of the Senate right now. The Dem caucus is taking a major hit losing Biden and Obama. Of course, it will be worth it.

He has personal knowledge of how they steal votes, he was a victim of their theft.
Who better to direct the DOJ on how to put an end to such theft.

It would be spun as something it isn't - if he investigated it it would be because it is so wrong, but the right would discredit it if he did it.

12. Yeah and let ALL that knowledge he has of global terror networks and proliferation |
|
of nukes go to waste.
Sometimes I wonder if some of you think that Kerry only helped stop the Vietnam War and it was some twenty other Democrats who uncovered IranContra, illegal wars in Central America, S&L matters, Iraqgate, BCCI and CIA drugrunning.
Personally, I think TOO MANY DEMS are underinformed about their own party's and their nation's REAL heroes.

18. I want him in charge of Truth and Reconciliation hearings for this country as he has been the top |
|
advocate for open government that this nation has had over the last 35 years.
That would likely only be possible in the senate.
What pisses me off is how uninformed so many Dems still are about the ONE man who has done more to head off the fascist agenda of BushInc over the last 4 decades than any other lawmaker in DC.
The focking dumbing down of America by the media.

31. Actually it is because of all the fights Kerry has made that the media hits him so often |
|
The fact is that they did not want change - they hung on to first HRC, then McCain as long as they could. The fact is though that the most likely person to really fight for change - even if there is opposition - is Kerry.
On Foreign policy, he meant it when he spoke of wanting Vietnam to be the place where America "turned". It wasn't - and Kerry was one of the few to fight the US supporting the Contras and the School of Americas. Half the Democratic party supported that - including the Clintons. Kerry's stand there would have the affect in central and South America that his stand against the Vietnam War had in Asia. Choosing Kerry for SoS would reinforce Obama's message more than the selection of anyone else.

If it was Kerry's JOB to run the DNC or examine and deal with ALL election process issues, he would have done a thorough job of it.

Dodd has officially said he wants to stay chairman of the Banking Committee.
Veterans Affairs is important but Kerry is higher profile than that job.
