To paraphrase what Sully wrote today, we can assume these newest stories about Palin's lack of knowledge are accurate for three simple reasons:

1. They have not been specifically denied.

2. The campaign refused to let her give a Press Conference - there's a reason for that, and it's not because it's "good" for the campaign to stonewall the press.

3. The campaign refused to let her go on "Meet The Press" - there's a reason for that, and it's not because she's "too charismatic" for Tom Brokaw.

And, allow me to quote the Sullivan directly, because it's priceless: "In a sane world, Palin would be a plaintiff on Judge Judy - and not potentially vice-president of the United States. And Judge Judy would have been a lot better at sussing her out than the national press corps."

4. There is seriously something wrong with Mika.

She was speaking with Evan Thomas, who is well-known for having written the most authoritative post-campaign books of the modern political era. He's a specialist at this kind of reporting, and he's 100 times the journalist Mika thinks she is.

She just kept doubting his stories about Palin. He insisted they are sourced from the very top of the McCain campaign. Mika sort of harrumphed. Then she insisted that these stories, "if they're true" reflect not on Palin but on the "idiots" that staffed the McCain campaign.

It was difficult to watch and I felt awful for Thomas. That guy is good, and Mika was just giving him shit because his stories are conflicting with her very flawed political and worldview. Very painful segment. Glad someone else saw it!
