Rein in the left?!?
"Obama needs to govern from the center" "Obama will have to fend off demands from the liberal left"

Where in the hell are these news pundits getting this crap from? First, America has spoken; in the presidential election, in the congressional races, hell, even in polls conducted over the past few years... Americans, by a huge majority, want health care reform. Americans want environmental issues to be taken seriously. Americans want our troops home from Iraq.

Supposedly liberal issues, one and all, yet the pundits either are completely stupid, or they're trying for a "tail wagging the dog" sort of deal..."People will believe they want Obama to govern from the center if we keep tellin' 'em that's what they want" Bastards!

Second, anyone with half an ounce of sense should be able to see that the governance from the right is simply bad news. You'd think the financial meltdown we're currently enmeshed in would be evidence enough of that. But no! Even with all these articles about the recession we "might" be in. These articles usually talk about past recessions, too...

Hasn't anyone noticed that in the last several years, every time we have a recession, we have -coincidentally- a Republican in the White House.

Of all the things that Obama could accomplish, the most important thing he SHOULD accomplish, is to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine that Reagan got rid of.

Maybe if the media started telling the truth about the news, rather than try to lead us around by the nose, things just might start to get better.

1. Our political spectrum is red-shifted
Probably due to the near-light speed velocities of policy away from the public good.

In this country, Bill Clinton is considered liberal - I think that says it all.

6. Clinton tried to govern as a libeal and conservative DEMs, such as Sam Nunn, stopped him. nt

2. "try to lead us around by the nose" - This is exactly how we've gotten to a place
even many elected Democrats at the Federal level, are to the right of Richard Nixon. The so called "center" that the MSM is trying to sell us is to the right of Nixon too. What's wrong with this picture? Populists won in '06 & '08. The tide is changing but the powers that be will try to corale, subvert or channel it away from what they don't want - a challenge to their power.

3. It's the usual outside of reality bull. How long has it been since we
had any influence? What year in the 1960's? If anyone needs to be reigned in, it is people that lean right. That's how we got into all this mess.

4. It's time "Conservative" replaces "Liberal" as the dirty name of politics
Based on historical facts, "Conservative" certainly deserves to be demonized more, considering the direction the country as a whole takes under conservative leadership.

But will it happen? Probably not, considering the corporate ties of those who own the media.

5. The paid corporate squawkers get their talking points from their conservative masters.
I expect the squawking to get louder. The "liberal" media that looked the other way while George Walker Bush and his cronies screwed us over for eight years will suddenly find their spines and turn a critical eye on the White House. They'll try their damnedest to make a mountain out of every molehill they discover.

7. *sigh* Obama needs to be PERCEIVED as leading from the center
in order to actually pass the legislation that he wants passed on health care, taxes, the economy, the environment and ending the war. He needs to redefine the center and move it back to the left. Look, he's repeatedly given transparent clues that this is the way he thinks. Why is it so hard for so many here to grasp.

8. This is part of that stupid meme that says...
...the radical left is just waiting to take over--as though Obama and the Democrats will be suddenly cowed by our amazing charisma. As though the most popular candidate in recent memory will be intimidated into silence by a minority of citizens.

No. That only works when the minority is backed by big-time conservative money and media owned by the same thugs.
