The Obama presidency will be the most scrutinized in history, you realize. |
|
Think of what the amazing ramp up in technology (youtube, blogs, blackberries, etc) did to the two year campaign. Of course McCain didn't get it, hence his flip flops and lies were plastered all over the web instantly.
One thing I am sure the Obama team is aware of is that the game has changed (he isn't in office for another seventy plus days and already his policies, choices for his team, etc are getting instantaneous scrutiny).
It will be something to watch - previous presidents had much more leeway to work behind the scenes. This is something very different. I am sure that they will have this in hand....but we are in for quite a ride for the next 8 (16? 24?) years as the adults finally get to drive this country once again!

that they actually welcome the scrutiny... Barack said over and over during his campaign that he wants we, the people actively involved in the governing of the country...

than our white counterparts to be taken seriously.
Hate to say that but it is what it is. So not only does Barack have to prove he's competent to lead our country, he has do it in grandiose style and mega proportions in order to be considered as serious and successful POTUS/CIC.
ETA: YES HE CAN!

9. It also seems to me that there is more responsibility on his shoulders |

than with any other administration in my lifetime. I'm not a presidential historian, so I cant speak for all of the presidential terms. But being the first AA, he is not only carrying the banner for the democratic party, he also carries the responsibility of the AA community. I believe he will do us all proud, but I cannot imagine the weight on his shoulders.
