Where We Are Today:
Thursday, November 6

The vote totals have shifted several times since the AP initially called the race when 100% of precincts had reported. As of this writing, the vote totals are as follows:

Coleman (Republican): 1,211,542 (41.99%)
Franken (Democratic-Farmer-Labor): 1,211,306 (41.98%)
Barkley (Independence): 437,377 (15.16%)
Aldrich (Libertarian): 13,916 (0.48%)
Niemackl (Constitution) 8,906 (0.31%)
Write-In: 2,340 (0.08%)

That is a 236 vote lead for Coleman! That's right, all that separates Coleman and Franken is 10% of the Write-In total.

4. It would be as splendid to have Franken in as it would be to have Coleman out.
This is Paul Wellstone's seat, and it would be great to have Democrat Al Franken sitting in it instead of Bush flunkie Norm Coleman.

6. Haven't you heard?
Coleman wasn't really all that supportive of Chimp.

8. Franken has won this, and Coleman knows it.
The optical scanner machines used in the big urban precincts are going to have a higher error rate due to dust buildup and voter ballot errors. Minnesota's recount law requires that the ballots be counted by hand and that the intent of the voter be determined, if possible. The procedure and the chain of custody is very detailed and exact. Franken will end up winning this by several thousand votes.
