A change is happening .... in me!
I have to admit, I remained cynical until the last minute. I really could not let myself believe and hope one more time that someone I admired and believed in could win a national election. I don't think I even realized the enormity of what had happened until I was alone in my car on Wednesday morning.

But, the rest of the day, I couldn't stop grinning.

And what's even better, as stupid as the freeper-types who are wailing about the state of our country are, I can feel some compassion for them because I know how it feels. I still think they are wrong and they are still going to piss me off when they spout their ignorant rhetoric, but it just seems easier to let it go. I have no desire to act like they did towards us when we were devastated by past election results.

Furthermore, I'm finding that I get no pleasure from new revelations about how ridiculous Sarah Palin and her clan are. It just doesn't matter because for once the American people saw through the "ordinary people" bullshit the Republicans have been so good at selling.

On Wednesday before I left for work, I asked my husband if this meant we had to quit being cynical and jaded. When I said it, I doubted that I could do it, but two days later, it doesn't even feel like something I have to "do" - it's just happening naturally. A change. A real change.

1. I'm definitely starting to realize that I've been in a shell for the past 8 years
I'm just starting to let myself emerge and it feels really good. :)

The Beatles expressed it perfectly..

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right
It's all right

3. Love the Beatles quote. It's perfect.
And it's not just us! I can see this happening with so many people I know.

2. I have walked away from this election with something I learned from President Obama...
HUMILITY...As I watched the silence from the M/P camp for 3 long days after the racist slurs started flowing...and yet at a "boooo" Obama would say, No boos, just vote...

As I watched Senator McCain's concession speech there were booo's...as President Obama spoke, 125,000+ people were hushed and I was in awe...

I haven't gloated once after, even when my friends on the other side of the isle expected me to ....I've cried and I've grinned and I've learned HUMILITY!!!!!

4. me, too! There's not need to gloat!
Obama ran a dignified campaign. After that first debate, when McCain wouldn't look him in the eye, I realized what a great man Obama is. What dignity. What poise. A real leader. A President we can be proud of!
