Think about it.

Relatively charismatic, from a swing state, moving upwards in the GOP congressional leadership, reliably conservative, not to mention Jewish.

Watch him these next four years. I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot of him, possibly as one of the new faces of the conservative wing of the republican party.

*edit* I'm not saying it's a GOOD idea. I'm saying I have a strange feeling that it's what they're gonna do.

2. He's a sack of shit and Jews aren't fooled by this creep...
his positions are so antithetical to most Jews, that even the 22%ers ain't buying it.

Jews don't vote for ridiculous Jews, and without Jewish support, the Gentiles won't be impressed.

6. I'm not saying he's gonna win a majority of the Jewish vote.
I'm saying he could probably grab 15-20% of it, and eat in to our base a bit. Not to mention significantly motivating the fundies with his radical conservatism.

7. They get 22% of us no matter what...
He's an obvious slimy hypocrite...not slick enough to foist that fundy crap on the people. he looks like he sells time-shares in his spare time.

3. They said George Allen was a rising star too..
FWIW Cantor isn't all that popular in Virginia outside his own district. In fact, I doubt very many people even know who he is. If the repubs keep serving up these right wing idealogues, they'll keep sinking the ship.

18. This guy is about as wing-nutty as they get...
he's a great example of why the GOP is imploding in Virginia.

8. Hey, they just nominated someone so out of touch with the middle class that he didn't mention them
once in all three debates. It wouldn't be out of character.

5. Possible although he is from the newly blue Virginia.
That night keep him in check just a bit. Reliable Republican tool Thelma Drake was just voted out even though Virginia Beach stayed on the McCain slate.

10. I disagree. Pukes are going to have a hard time disengaging from fundies.

They are married to them; any candidate who does not sell their soul to Christianity will not survive. McCain didn't stand a chance with the base until he put Palin on the ticket; of course that didn't work out very well.

I foresee the opposite happening - the Pukes will go to the extreme right in the near future. It's going to take them a good 20 years to get back on track.

11. PCIntern is 100% on the mark.
American Jews, with the exception of right wing Likudniks and right wing orthodox Jews who together make up a small percent, are 180 from this guy. He comes from the same camp as Chertoff. He isn't going anywhere. I agree that it will be the Jewish community that will work hard to keep this creep down.

13. Cantor is horrid

He is one of their most far-right congressmen for the Repukes...if they want to turn to him, do it at your own peril. The guy is a clown.

14. Hardball appearance
Isn't this the idiot who got completely eviscerated on Hardball this fall? Matthews kept pushing him on something (maybe it was running from the Bush name?) and Cantor just sputtered and stammered. I noted him at the time because he was being talked up as a big up and comer, I think. I just laughed and laughed.

15. I hope they do.
Cantor is not very bright and not very likable. Go watch him on youtube. Charismatic is not the word I would choose. Maybe asthmatic. I think you are right though, he seems to be popular among house republicans. I think it would a mistake for them so I hope they go with him.

23. Eric "Nancy Pelosi was mean to us!" Cantor?
Cantor's whining and blaming Pelosi's speech for the failure of the first bailout bill was among the most pitiful moments for the Republicans out of the entire campaign.
