Politico: McConnell reaches out to Lieberman about the prospect of joining Republican Conference
Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has reached out to Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) about the prospect of joining the Republican Conference, but Lieberman is still bargaining with Democratic leaders to keep his chairmanship, according to Senate aides in both parties.

“Sen. Lieberman’s preference is to stay in the caucus, but he’s going to keep all his options open,” a Lieberman aide said. “McConnell has reached out to him, and at this stage, his position is he wants to remain in the caucus but losing the chairmanship is unacceptable.”

A Republican Senate aide said Friday morning that there was little McConnell could offer in terms of high-ranking committee slots, which is why Lieberman is resisting overtures from the Republican side.

Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Lieberman met Thursday, yet Reid is waffling over whether to revoke Lieberman’s chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee and may instead hold a secret vote among Democratic members on whether to kick Lieberman out of the caucus.

I absolutely do NOT want Lieberman leading us around by the balls. It's my theory we need to just think of Leibermans seat as one we lost. Fuck him.

Let me re-edit...Mr Reid...YOU ABSOLUTELY DO NOT negotiate with this prick. He deserves no power, no authority...he actively waged a negative campaign against our new President. If you are actually thinking about bending over for this doofus then your own position in the Senate should be called into question.

ABSOLUTELY NO WAY do we negoatie with him. Reid should say quite simply:

"Joe, your history as the HS Chairman and you are still welcomed to caucus with us, but if you dont want to then I don't give a shit"

2. Aw, sweet!
Please go where you belong, Lieberman, with the party of liars and traitors. And don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

What a waste of a Senate seat.

6. LIEberman has no right to a chairmanship. He didn't work towards
improving our majority in Congress and he shouldn't benefit from it. Give the chairmanship to a true Dem. Let the Repukes have him. Keeping him in the caucus isn't going to make him vote any particular way. Remember, Joementum said his support of McCain was based on "principle". Well, if he's so principled, he'll vote based on that, regardless of which side he caucuses with.

I heard LIEberman on one of the RW hate radio shows the day of the election, and he was fully endorsing McCain's economic "plan" and outright stated that we need to give corporations and the rich more tax cuts. He's not a Dem and we don't need him at this point. He's lost the right to determine what is "acceptable".

7. I guess we just found out how the Repukkkes will find moderates
Edited on Fri Nov-07-08 01:10 PM by kwolf68
Lets face it...Lieberman, if he remains consistent on many of his other issues, will sound like a downright communist to those loons on the right. On the war, they can all sing together, but what happens on choice, health care, education, and environment ? Buwahahahaah...

I wonder if Lieberman will goto the "Advanced Institute of Conservative Studies" and come out with ALL right wing views? Or will he be their token moderate (w/ due respect to Collins, Snowe and Specter)?

9. Not if he demands a chairman seat for it

We no longer need to deal with interlopers, the time has come to purge the few remaining duds from our party. Lieberman cares about Lieberman. I'd love to keep him in the caucus, but he ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT deserve to keep his charimanship for it.

What Holy Joe doesn't realize is...we're the clear majority now. And whose to say the dickhead still wouldn't vote against us anyway?

My real dream would to see him just become a Republican and the good people of Connecticuit vote his ass out. At least Zell Miller gave us humor.
