141. NO - IT'S NOT A DONE DEAL!!! Harry is only "considering it"...
this is a very misleading headline...

and a very big letdown...

otherwise - all the media whores would be obsessing about it all morning...

I feel another "strongly worded letter" in the future...

(I'm not necessarily responding to you tekisui, but to post this at the top because the OP makes it sound like it's a "done deal" when that is FAR from the case...

157. Not true
I saw him on the news saying it is a for sure thing. Lieberman is toast and the only reason they waited was because they knew he would jump ship. Now it doesn't matter because the Dems have the lead in the senate.

If he had gone all revengeful repug before the election it could have left the deciding vote to Cheney, and that would be awful.

119. As someone from Connecticut I can attest to the fact that many Rethugs voted in Loserman
My own parents, who vote only for Rethugs, voted for him and I, as a Dem, voted for Lamont. The Rethug candidate was essentially the third party in that election. We will get rid of him but we need a 2 person race, so I hope Loserman becomes a Rethug.

35. It's the only sanction a political party has in the US.
And lets face it. There are plenty of other loyal Democratic Senators who would love nothing more than to chair Lieberman's old Homeland Security Committee.

I bet Lieberman doesn't walk. I bet he holds out for him being the 60th Senator and exercising power like that, as king of the filibuster. It may have cost his committee, but if the Dems pick up those 3 senate seats it will put Lieberman back into a pivotal position.

This needed to be done. What kind of credibility would this new Congress and
Administration have if we allowed Senator Lieberman to chair committees and caucus with the Dems after he wholly endorsed McCain and his disgusting campaign tactics. He fancied that he would still wield his caucus power, as a coercive tool. He was wrong.

Reid said he might have to consider stepping down. Joe said it was not acceptable, and that he would "consider his options," meaning he might jump across the aisle. Mitch McConnell invited him to join the Republcians.

It is still up in the air, and Joe is still trying to lobby the other Dem senators to let him stay on in the chairmanship. He might still lose the chairmanship, but the report doesn't say he actually has yet.

I've got some bad news for you, Joe... It's not up to you to define what's acceptable and what's not. It's up to Harry Reid to decide, and it's up to you to man up and live with the consequences of your actions. But if you seriously believed there would be no price to pay for the way you have acted since the war began, and through out the presidential campaign, well, let's just say even Sarah Palin is smarter than that. More Lieberman-McConnell talks

Posted: Friday, November 07, 2008 2:08 PM by Domenico

From NBC's Ken Strickland

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman have been talking, according to McConnell's spokesman. While the spokesman couldn't give details of the conversation, McConnell and other Senate Republican leaders have previously said they'd welcome Lieberman into their caucus. An aide to Lieberman also confirmed the conversation with McConnell.

Talks with McConnell apparently came in the wake of Lieberman's discussions yesterday with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. In that session, according to the Lieberman aide, Reid wanted Lieberman to give up his chairmanship of the Homeland Security Governmental Affairs Committee for a lesser position. Lieberman, who was part of the commission that established the panel in 2005 (previously called the Governmental Affairs), considered the proposal "unacceptable" the aide said.

Lieberman also cited that it was his membership within the caucus that allowed Democrats to hold their one-seat majority in the Senate for the past two years. And though he voted against Democrats on Iraq and other national security issues, Lieberman had voted with the party more than some Democrats.

147. Relieve "Trader Joe" of his chairmanship, toss him the hell out of the caucus, and
move his office to a sub-basement utility room. When he opens the door to his new office let him see mops, buckets, and the utility sink. Let him sit his traitorous ass in that.

Stan Simpson of The Hartford Courant isn't very happy with the traitor. I hope the good people of Connecticut aren't happy with hiim either and recognize LIEberman for the back stabbing traitor he is. If they don't then the Dems should guaranty that LIEberman gets NOTHING, NOTHING for the state of Connecticut until they vote him OUT!

'Trader Joe' Lieberman Should Pay For Actions

Stan Simpson
November 8, 2008

Lieberman not only supported McCain, but vigorously campaigned with him and went out of his way to disparage Obama — even agreeing to be a featured speaker at the Republican National Convention.

This occurred two years after Lieberman, according to party insiders, begged Obama to come to Connecticut to support him in his bid against upstart Ned Lamont. Obama agreed to be the keynote speaker at the Jefferson-Jackson-Bailey dinner in Hartford.

Lieberman repaid Obama by trying to undermine his presidential campaign. He took a calculated risk in campaigning for McCain, understood the repercussions if McCain lost — and clearly relished his role as the Republican's attack dog.
