Will I be the only one to say THANK GOD Lieberman was stripped of his chairmanship BUT now that he's
been punished, we ought to let him continue to caucus with the Democrats and he should get first choice of the best committee assignment that none of our GREAT freshman Democratic Senators want?

Like Obama, I want fairness but with no unnecessary drama.

Punish Lieberman, and then -- once he has suffered his punishment -- welcome him with the same warmth which we would extend to Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins if they wanted to caucus with us.

2. Yes, you're the only one
I would accept someone like Olympia Snowe in a heartbeat over a traitorous fool like LIEberman any day. Lieberman is a vindictive, disloyal fool. Again, it wasn't just his support for McLame, it was his over-the-top support for him, helping to spread lies and smears against Obama, and even working on down-ticket support for republican candidates. Simply unforgiveable.

3. no --
we can negotiate with him but he should be escorted out of the caucus and we should negotiate with him just like Snowe, Collins or Spector who are outside of the caucus.

The Dem Caucus has to show some spine and discipline.

Any important legislation will still need some negotiation to pass. To cave in will only undermine Caucus discipline.

He didn't just endorse McCain he became a prop and he was smiling and clapping behind McCain every time he bashed Democratic policy whether it was just the war or its social programs.

He had that grin on his face when McCain was trying to raise issues about Obama's integrity.

4. His claim to caucus with the Democrats is bull
He voted more times than not with the Republican caucus over the last two years. He is a Republican except in name, let him go on over.

I say good riddance.

7. That's simply not true. Lieberman SUCKS. He's AWFUL, but 6 or 7 Senate Democrats are worse in terms

of party loyalty, and those "barely Democrats" include McCaskill (Mo.), Baucus (Mont.), Conrad (N.D.), Pryor (Ark.), Landrieu (La.), Nelson (Neb.), and probably Johnson (S.D.).

I say "probably Johnson" because he missed so many votes due to his health and courageous fight to remain in the Senate that it is hard to judge his votes based on such a small sample size, but based on his pre-illness votes, he's generally to the right of Lieberman.

Does Lieberman SUCK? Hell yes!

Does Lieberman SUCK ESPECIALLY HARD because every other "barely Democrat" who is to the right of Lieberman is from a "red state" where a full-on liberal would probably never get elected, but Lieberman is from Connecticut where there is no excuse for Lieberman's general suckiness? Unquestionably!

With all of that said, Lieberman has NOT "voted more times than not with the Republican caucus over the last two years." That is simply not true.

We NEED to pass health care reform and tax reform and a million other good policies. I want every vote for these issues, and if it means that Lieberman gets demoted to "worst Democrat" instead of kicked off the team entirely, I will suffer Lieberman's presence to get the votes we need to achieve the critical goals we share.

he's been stabbing the party in the back for years. This time, not only did he stick the knife in, he twisted it a few times.

8. Snowe and Collins didn't travel the campaign trail with McCain.
They can come on over. Not Joe. He needs the boot. He's got nothing to offer us anyway. He'd hold that threat of filibuster over our heads anyway.

Fuck him.

9. I am trying to imagine what more Lieberman could have
done to undermine the Democrats, and I'm coming up empty. He is a traitor, period, and should be shunned.
