3. Only speculation at this point but there are clues.
Dean is supposedly lobbying bigtime for the HHS position. Plouffe has said he will do anything necessary to help POTUS Obama "outside the Administration."

4. only if Plouffe keeps Dean's 50 state strategy
that is a winner for us and will win us even more in the next election.

8. This is going to be the first Obama decision I'm not happy about
Dr. Deans saved the Democratic Party and should have stayed.

Now, if I find out he wanted to go, then Plouffe, of course, is more than fine with me.

Otherwise, not happy....Dr. Dean should stay.

9. Me neither. Sounds like they are pushing Howard out of the way to make
room for Pflouffe.

11. I'm not happy with it but frankly it's tradition
the chairmanship of the party is a prize for the winning team and they usually put in someone who was involved in the campaign....c'est la vie....just hope Dr. Dean keeps his toes in the water somewhere...

12. aaargh. Howard does NOT want to stay. He's announced that about a
hundred times. He said it at the beginning; that he only wanted to serve one term, and he DOES want the HHS job.

13. Howard Dean has said he loves to manage things
I've thought for years he would make an amazing Secretary of Health and Human Services. I would imagine he's be integral in formulating the health care system overhaul.

14. Agreed

Dean would be perfect as HHS, Kerry as Sec. of State, Cleland as Sec. of Defense (unless he wants to reach out with a Hagel pick,) and Janet Napolitano as Atty. Gen.

15. yep. Dr. Dean's chief priority during his years as guv was healthcare
reform and he had quite a bit of success. And of course he's a terrific manager. He managed the state of Vermont for 11 years and he's managed the DNC for almost 4. Not to mention that he's a former family care physician who's still tuned into that by his wife who he used to be in practice with.

20. DNC Chairman
I didn't realize the DNC Chairman was set by term limits until I heard one of the mediaheads asking Dr. Dean what was in store for him as his term nears..

He sounded like he'd definitely like to work in the Obama Administration and I think the HHS Secretary sounds awesome!

Should be interesting to see who winds up in Dean's place..

21. It's not a term limit question
Dean was elected to a four-year term ending in early 2009. Traditionally, a Democratic President has a lot of sway in who becomes the new Chair. Dean has hinted that he won't seek another term.
