I watched Obama become president on the same TV set Obama watched his wife's speech from! |
|
Of course, I sat on the couch Barack sat on, and certainly had to sit on it again just after he became the president-elect.
Our friends the Girardeaus had a watch party here in KC. You remember them, from Michelle's speech night at the convention.
We watched THE MOMENT on CNN, which I wasn't sure was the best choice, until I saw later that Grant Park was also watching CNN, which means we sort of "shared the moment" with them. Also, since CNN declared on the stroke of 11 EST, our countdown (like many going on around the world) was perfectly timed, and when we hit zero and Obama's picture flashed onto the screen, we also SOUNDED like Grant Park, even though there were only about 50 of us.
It was cool seeing it happening from a setting with just a bit of campaign history of its own.

2. That is awesome!. Congratulations for your history and for |
|
sharing your own personally story about our President Elect Obama. We are all very excited and hopeful of his administration. I know times will not be easy for him and for us because of the estate of our economy and how this country is being turned in to him. I sometimes feel bad for him. He is given a really screw up country. I just hope the american people don't forget who was the main responsible for all of this and not blame President Obama.
Really - thank you for sharing your story with us. You are a lucky person!..: ))

5. Yes, I have, and I loved it! |
|
I have to be clear, though, it's not mine, it belongs to our good friends the Girardeaus. Still, it's amazing, we know them well (and love them, just wonderful people).
It's still so odd when some retrospective of the campaign plays, and suddenly we see again our friends, (who also live just a mile or so away) sitting there proudly with Barack on that important night. Of course, as you can imagine, it's much more odd and more surreal to them, a truly once-in-a-lifetime event for their whole family.
