NEVER talk politics on a NASCAR board, LOL. Freep City. |
|
A certain site I go to has a Politics section. I started a topic congratulating our new President and was greeted with the following type of nonsense:
"Obama should have never been allowed to run for office - he was born in Kenya! This clearly violates our constitution. Did you know he had his birth records legally sealed forever to hide this fact from America! Yes, his Mom was an American, but she gave birth in Kenya!
Was McCain our answer - NO Violating our consitution is SO WRONG! I would of rather seen Hilary over Obama any day... I hope everyone is happy four years from now when our individual freedoms have been eroded, our 401K plans and income is taxed so the lazy people can live better...if we have a 401K left to be taxed, and what I am really worried about, we negotiate with terrorists!!!
For 50 million Americans - like me - this was not a race thing, he clearly doesn't have the experience to lead anything."
"you mean the first 1/2 african american don't you....he is no more black than white which doesn't matter just stating fact. We will see if we can do worse or not, my prediction is it will be worse. Praying we make it to 2012."
"If he was born in Hawaii - why did he ask for a month to produce his birth certificate....and then go ahead and have his birth records permanently and legally sealed? What is he hiding from us! I do agree our personal freedoms have been eroding for a decade now.... What will Obama do to help restore them?? Take away our guns??? Give our money to the poor???? What????"
"Well unless you can quote it...I listen to Hannity and Limbaugh quite a bit and I have never heard them say it." - In response to my saying they should stop listening to those two, and that they might have something to do with the doubting of Obama's birthplace.
"And personally I am very proud of George Bush and what he has done for this country. You forget 911...and what the President's main job is..Commander in Chief. We have not been attacked in this country since, Praise God, attempts are made nearly every day in all kinds of ways. I know, having just retired from the military after 24 yrs. Obama is learning that now. We'll see how he governs. It is fine by me if you Hip Hip Hooray Obama. He ran a good campaign and is now our President and I will pray for him, but don't denigrate President Bush. The Democrats have their chance now, they have run the Congress the last two years and their approval rating is less than Bush's, so we will see what happens...and unlike the Democrats and Press, I won't be out there trying to tear my President down every day. God bless America."
"I'm a third generation volunteer firefighter in my home town and a City official as Deputy Chief - You will ALWAYS hear my voice over everyone's when we recite the Pledge of Alligance!!!!! I would do anything for this great land!" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just some laughs from a crowd that reminds me of Freepers. I won't make the mistake of trying to engage these types again.

1. Not all NASCAR fans are freepers. My husband is a former racer/NASCAR fan/life-long Democrat |
|
Who voted for Obama and has never voted for a Republican.

But they outnumber liberal types considerably. This particular board is very upset over the results.

6. Nevertheless the stereotype persists that all NASCAR fans are redneck good ol' boys |
|
who vote Republican. My husband is none of the above and I wanted to put in a good word for him and those others who are not.

7. The jingoistic spectacle of patriotism |
|
NASCAR tends to put on sort of reinforces that stereotype. Just sayin.

3. NASCAR fan here, and I've never voted for a Republican for |
|
President.
I didn't marry my brother or my cousin.
I didn't have 6 kids by the time I was 20.
I can spell.
In other words,
not all NASCAR fans fit the stereotype.

5. I am somewhat of a fan too, obviously |
|
I realize that not *every* fan fits that bill, but I feel like I'm on Free Republic on that board, 90% Republican, at least. Just thoguht it'd be interesting to see what they're saying.

4. Same thing with the motorcycle boards |
|
I'd say about 90% of the Hog guys are Repugs, 75% of the dirt riders as well, although a lot smarter.
As for the crotch rocket / Japanese / Euro types, it's a more left leaning, probably 55% lefties.
