Antigua and Barbuda renames their highest mountain Mt. Obama
Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister W. Baldwin Spencer wrote a letter to Obama on Wednesday congratulating him on his victory in the presidential election. To show that he meant it, Spencer said he would take "immediate measures" to have Boggy Peak, the Caribbean nation's highest mountain, renamed "Mount Obama."

While Mount Rushmore has a peak of 5,725 feet and Mount Washington in New Hampshire has a peak of 6,288 feet, the soon-to-be Mount Obama has a height of only 1,319 feet.

Spencer added that he hopes Obama visits the region soon, perhaps as early as next year.

8. Unfortunately, the Bush sewage plant rename failed

Voters evidently felt that naming a sewage treatment plant after him wasn't actually that appropriate.

If it had been a sewage generating facility on the other hand, or possibly a garbage dump or landfill...

Maybe next time!

4. Sure sounds better than "Boggy Peak"
But at only 1300 feet, we'd only call that a "foothill".

7. If you have downloaded Google Earth you can check out Boggy Peak
When you get there you can turn the earth on its side so you can see the actual topogrpahy of the mountain as it looks in reality. Antigua is much more mountainous than I thought. Boggy Peak, soon to be Mt Obama is about 1300 miles SE of Miami and about 450 miles north of Venezuela. Just to the north of the mountain there is a single road that ends in the middle of nowhere with some buildings at the end of it. Wonder what's in those.. :)

11. Not these buildings
I took another look and the buildings are nestled at the base of the mountain. Might be a farm of some kind. There are some scattered clouds and one of them looks like it's covering the top of that mountain so I can't see the radio station you mentioned. You should take a look. It's pretty interesting. Beautiful area. Have you downloaded Google Earth? You can often see your own house right on it.
