13. Although it did pass with support from our Democratic base we have no one to blame but ourselves

As Progressives of all races we still have lots of work to do
to get equal rights for our GLBT brothers and sisters if our
own base, who understand much more about civil rights than the
descendants of slave owners do, came out in droves to strip
away the rights of someone else.

They clearly didn't see this as a civil rights issue and as
activists that is our fault.

It is not the fault of any particular ethnic group that it
passed but it is surprising at the support it did garner
because of religion. I think we are missing the point of the
discussion. We didn't work hard enough.

8. I'm sad.

On the more conservative boards I used to frequent, there were members who used to make it their daily mission to target Black people and bring up the problems of the Black community. They'd always use the same sad vitriol which stings and belittles. And the other members there would just let it pass and say that "nothing happened".

When I came to more liberal pastures, I thought that I'd reached a place where people could be more open and caring about people from all walks of life. I thought I left that kind of anger and hatred behind. But what I've witnessed the last few days, broke my heart.

And although there were Black people who openly spoke against the propositions which hurt the GLBT community, that didn't stop the racism. I began to wonder whether Black people are truly the scorned of the Earth. :(

People should know what to target - religion. Kill all religions!!! Ok, not really, but seriously, why did all these 'religion-experts' a.k.a. atheists, not understand marriage is a religious institution? Don't 99.9% of all marriages take place in churches? Buy a clue seems an understatement.

Religion is obviously the enemy of everyone, as it initiates racial conflicts without even trying. Kill all religions!!! No no, the gays and such, they just want what they want, which is gayness-marriage or its equivalent. Humans will be humans, and unfortunately, the only cure is time (which no human controls).

It really does come full circle and meet at stereotypes and venemous hate and intolerance the only difference is who the target is.

16. Interesting...
I saw those poll numbers, and immediately thought of religion. I never blamed black people, I blamed religion. I'm not sure what being black has to do with anti-gay marriage. I connected different dots, I guess.

Sad.
