Isn't Obama's Rise Remarkable?
Seriously -- nobody in the world (including Obama himself) would have said in 2001 (shortly after Bush's inauguration) that the next Democratic president in 2009 would be Barack Obama.

If you had said after Al Gore's loss that the next winning Democrat, eight years from then, would be an unknown, liberal African-American state senator from the South Side of Chicago with a Muslim name who had just been crushed in a congressional primary, you'd have been called a nutcase.

Even four years ago, when it was clear that Obama was destined for bigger and better things, did anybody expect him to be president in 2009? Most would have thought 2013 at the earliest and probably not till 2017 or 2021 if then.

Certainly I don't think anybody expected that we'd shatter the "whites only" glass ceiling at the White House this soon -- in another 10-20 years maybe. But in 2008? And after 9-11? With a man with a Muslim name?

The long election season may have made it seem unremarkable. But step back and take a look at the overall context. This is simply an astonishing, unbelievable story. It truly is remarkable.

2. I think it has been just waiting. It is like a wave
As Bush got a bigger and bigger for the very 'top income' going and running the govt. like a right wing royalist party of his friends, one knew it would happen soon. The wave always lands. I never could understand why it took so long. After all the large middle class of this country is what is so odd about this country. Cut them down and what did the rich think would happen? Even part of China growth is based on our middle class. Also one can not run the govt. as if it is a private army for a few rich and get away with it for long. 'We the people' is sort of in our minds and a few GOP crazies in churches and in govt. is not going to stop that thinking.

4. I agree. That's why I don't believe this narrative in genuine. Enjoy your hope and change but it
ain't ringing true to anyone with a bullshit detector.
