Palin denounces anonymous critics as 'cowardly'
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Gov. Sarah Palin denounced anonymous criticisms leveled at her by former John McCain aides as lies, including allegations that Republican lawyers were traveling to Alaska to reclaim her high-priced wardrobe and that she didn't know Africa was a continent.

"Those accounts are not true," the former Republican vice presidential candidate said in her first public comments on the matter since the election Tuesday.

Palin returned Friday to her Anchorage governor's office and said she had no immediate plans to build on her newfound national name-recognition and popularity with the Republican base for a possible 2012 presidential run.

Instead, Palin said, she wanted only to get back to the governor's desk to advance a proposed pipeline tapping Alaska's vast North Slope natural gas reserves and to prepare Alaska's proposed 2010 budget.

As for the vice presidential campaign, Palin denounced criticism from unidentified McCain campaign aides as "cowardly." She said she found it frustrating trying to respond to false allegations when she didn't know who was making them.

"It's ridiculous," she told reporters. "You guys report based on anonymous sources, so it's hard to have a defense."

She keeps talking, at link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081108/ap_on_el_pr/palin;_ylt=AmzSw4tCGnWEio08V3bHDrSs0NUE

1. For once, she's right
There's nothing quite so dishonorable as leaving a fallen comrade like that...

and hasn't missed it since.

3. Does she want any cheese with her whine?
Without "leaks" and "anonymous" sources, Washington DC would cease to function.

4. Yeah, but these are "anonymous" like Kissinger...
...when he was the "anonymous high-placed State Department official".

She's getting stabbed in the back by the people who asked her to run. It doesn't make me feel charitable towards her, but it's a pretty severe indictment of the McCain people, and I hope the media run with it.

6. What I would hope the media would do is run on how she is such a hypocrite...
She deserves whatever she gets and more, she didn't think twice about attacking President Obama with viciousness and some outright lies in order to win, in my opinion she has no one to blame but herself, lie with dogs and your bound to get fleas...

Now if only the media would stop attempting to get her some sympathy, as far as I am concerned she is old news and she is no longer deserving of prime time....

Now onto real issues that matter, civil rights in this country for all are in question, that along with President Obama, and Joe Bidens should become front page news....all this palin garbage is nothing more than another attempt to keep the republicans in play and I for one am tired of them....

The future beckons and I don't want them in my future, they didn't care about me the past eight years, why should I care about them..

7. How cowardly were her attacks on Obama?
Her behavior did not inspire hope or confidence like him but viciousness like her own.

9. She wants to know who said it, so she can deliver punishment for spilling the beans
that is exactly how small town politicians like her work. Tell me "who" and I'll fucking eliminate them. Othewise, you just respond - "did or didn't happen" and freaking drop it - in politics, one often fights anonymous stuff, and doesn't wait until someone comes forward with a name to respond. Not necessary.

The more fun part is that she said "it is not true." And that earlier I heard her discuss it in context of one of the debate preps. Which to me means it did happen, and now that she has denied that it did, we may be treated to the video tape of her saying it.

Because even Obama's debate preps were taped so that he could review them and see what worked, and what didn't. I used to tape practice performances for study. And I'll betcha that Sarah is on tape saying that Africa and Nafta stuff, and it will more fun to watch now that she has lied her ass off about it.

That is my hope, anyway. I want her to blow any chances of being a contender in national politics again.

10. I do agree with her for once
Rather than all these 'sources' saying all this stuff, they should just come out and say it upfront.

I think Palin deserves some of the blame for the loss. But she doesn't deserve it all. And it seems they want to make it all her fault to save themselves.

I can't stand her or her politics, but there is something unpleasant about the way the republicans just decided to tear this woman down the moment they no longer had any use for her.

11. I agree, it is cowardly. I just
read another blog the Boston radio said it was Romney folks.--perhaps yes, perhaps no.
But also--the media is playing a role here--Fox to be exact. slimly Cameron of all people.

12. totally agree
Especially in light of all the bullshit McCain spit out left and right about how much more qualified to be president she was then Obama. He sold his soul to push that lie, and he would've stuck his country with this woman knowing she was an idiot. Country first my ass.

Don't get me wrong, I can't stand Palin, I find her offensive on so many levels there's no room in this post. But this whispering behind-the-back crap IS cowardly. And McCain just let's it go on and on in silence. Imagine if the tables were turned, and this kind of crap was going on, and Obama saying nothing to stop it??? It's evidence of EXACTLY what kind of person McCain is, and has always been.

14. But are they blaming her for the loss or just getting back at her for going "rouge"?
Sounds like Sarah did what Sarah wanted to do and flipped the McCain campaign the bird. So I can't say I blame them for calling her out.

McCain and Palin sure deserve each other.

13. i'm sorry, she deserves all she gets and more
ONE BIG POINT: the carping you are hearing is not entirely anonymous - Steve Schmidt is the pointman for a lot of it and he admits it.

Believe me, if McCain and his staff could have said, with a straight face or even a slightly smirky one, that a big success the campaign had was introducing the world to the new party star they would be jumping all over that as the highlight of their campaign. Schmidt, who is going to take the fall for putting her on the ticket, can't defend her. Think about that. He'd rather take the fall.

Face it, Sarah - you were just that bad, and "cowardly" describes a lot better your inability to examine your own faults. I saw those people at your rallies, i saw what you did to the crowds, and i know that political grown-ups do not act that way - this is not about ideology, it is about how we do politics in a civilized society. I watched McCain, who made plenty of non-Sarah related mistakes don't get wrong, work the crowds like the pro he is - nobody listened to McCain and came away wanting to kill anyone - and i watched Sarah upstage that message and shred it into a pseudo-fascist screamfest.

Listen to her talk - was anything ever her fault? Has she ever admitted an error or does she only admit to enemies? Sound like anyone we know?

15. She completely lacks any self-awareness whatsoever.
No one forced her onto the ticket. Remember, she 'didn't even blink' when offered the position, and other whispers are starting to surface that she lobbied for the spot. She herself has long been a two-faced, back-stabbing turncoat in AK, so for her to play the victim card now is just more blatant dishonesty and hypocrisy piled on top of a big pile of ignorant hubris. Basically, this is par for the course, and I don't feel one ounce of sympathy for this person. She's skated through life on a free ride to this point, and when faced with her first dose of 'big league reality,' she crumbled. That's all I need to know about this person - the fact that she's a moron who doesn't know and has apparently no interest in knowing such things as what Africa is or which countries are in North America only strengthen my belief that she doesn't give a shit about anything or anyone but herself, and she still, even now, thinks she can BS her way through all of this and wind up in the White House.

Point is, she doesn't seem to have learned a damn thing from all of this, which means that she likely never will, and therefore should be hammered into oblivion. Screw her.

16. At first, the republicans loved her because she was dumb enough to be led
Then when she started acting crazy (even for them) they got rid of her.

17. while the leakers are shitty
She has a stunning and disturbing lack of self awareness...she's hyper defensive, blames it all on the media when she was the one who used the media to attack Obama on obscure, non-issues. I find the comment about lower states not being able to appreciate equality like people in Alaska to be disgusting....it sounds as if she finds any questions about her qualifications to be sexism, but she snickered about the worth of community organizers, etc.
