They just interviewed Alice Walker (Color Purple). The anchor said something like, there's a big change in attitudes. Walker said, not quite ... and mentioned prop 8.

people are saying things that they really don't mean, or not expressing themselves quite right. No one here really believes that "all black people are homophobes" ... some people are just shocked that blacks who voted for prop 8, given their history of struggles in this country, could not empathize with gays who are currently in earlier stages of their civil rights struggle.
We need to launch a massive re-education campaign about GLBTs, one based on science, to prove that homosexuality is a natural state of being. Even though there is already scientific evidence about this, more needs to be done, and it would be great to create private GLBT advocacy groups to fund those studies.
