1. Basically the reverse of Bush's, huh?
What did Bush's look like at this time in 2000? I have been thinking about the contrasts lately - how Bush was met at his first inauguration by protestors and rotten eggs and how Obama will be met by a huge and joyous crowd.

10. so all but 10% approved of Bush after 9/11....
wonder what would cause the last 30% of Bush idiots to come over to the side of goodness and truth? Probably nothing.

12. My Palin-loving, Kool-Aid drinking sister told me this morning that she's starting to like Obama!
She said she's been listening to his speeches and the press conference and has seen how he's been conducting himself and what he's been saying. And she said he has the most beautiful family.

She said she really hopes he does well, she's pulling for him, and so far she's very impressed with him.

This is a day I thought I'd never see.

15. That is encouraging.
I'm so glad to see this happening. It makes me think it really is possible to unite this country. Did she say anything about the Nancy Reagan comment?

16. No, nothing about Nancy.
We were approaching the topic of politics very carefully. This is a very explosive and alientating issue in my family. I'm amazed we talked about Obama as much as we did.

17. I'm having similar conversations
and I'm being very GOOD, because I want to scream, "why weren't you watching BEFORE you voted???" but I'm not.

I'm being very vaguely pleased..."it's nice that you feel good about this; that's important to me." And yes, I already knew he was brilliant and calm and wise... I TRIED to tell you those things.

Oh well -- it's great that they are jumping on board. 2012 YES WE CAN

23. I tried too.
When my sister said: "What a beautiful family!" I thought: "Duh. Didn't you see them before?"

But like you, I was judicious in my comments. I pleased she's come this far so soon. It's a miracle in its own way.

25. you're right - it is a miracle
and I feel that when I'm listening to them. It's important to come together in support of our new President, and if people are finding things they appreciate about him on their own, then that is FANTASTIC.

What were they looking at before? Or were they ignoring him all together because they were "above the lovefest"? People are odd creatures.

20. That is wonderful news!
I honestly think that some of the folks who think they hate him now will see him in a different light later. Too bad they didn't get to see that earlier, but better late than never.

Listening isn't their strong suit but now they're pretty much forced to hear him.

22. Agreed.
They just assumed he was all "liberal bullshit" and wouldn't listen. Now they're pretty much forced to listen and they're liking what they're hearing.

About damn time.

26. Yep! We had a neighborhood party yesterday and
my right-wing, fundie neighbor friend told a group of us that she didn't vote for him but she thinks he'll make a great President! Also said Sarah Palin was totally unqualified. I have a couple of conservative friends that I think really wanted to vote for him but didn't because they are scared they will go to hell over the abortion issue. But they seem kind of happy that he won. Sad but true.
