That is the age group with the most to lose from Mr. 100 years in Iraq. That meatgrinder cannot contain itself for 100 years without some help from a draft.

8. funny thing is, after every election, no matter the outcome, they say "Younger voters are trending |
|
toward Republicans and more conservatives candidates."
They never give specifics or statistics, and when pressed, usually say "Reagan 1984," as though 20+ years later anyone who voted for Reagan can be considered a young voter.

10. I've read articles that suggest that the Republicans are worried about losing young voters forever |
|
The problem is that young voters reject their social conservatism out of hand. So what can the Republicans do? If they moderate their social positions, they lose their base, the religious vote.
They have a big problem on their hands.

12. my favorite factoid on elections |
|
party identity is established in the first three elections a person votes in.
If you can get people to vote dem in their first three elections, they will be dems for life (generally speaking)
If we can keep the youth with us there is hope for this country.
Which is in keeping with the Obama strategy throughout this election. What you worry about first is how you are going to find more votes. When you wake up every morning your first thought is "how do I find 3,000 new votes today" and when you go to bed at night your last thought is "First thing in the morning I've got to get out and find another 3,000 new votes."
This is not a conservative country or if it is, it should not be. We gotta take it back, 3,000 votes at a time.
(I have no idea where/why they picked that number, 3,000. It's just how I heard the story.)

13. I'm not sure if this is, actually, relevant to this thread or not, but at a party I attended on |
|
election night a 20 something right wing, war mongering, pro prop 8, born again, voted eagerly for McCain (just pile the cliches on and she fit them all) ---- except she was handing out free condoms and Plan B -- though she, herself, would never use them and had, in fact, given the result of her unexpected pregnancy up for adoption. I was baffled by this as she'd voted for restricting civil rights, both for women and gays on our ballot earlier in the day. She had, also, volunteered at her polling place. My hope is that people like this, who already have the instinct to work for the common good, will slowly be able to overcome the dogma.

If so, she was probably handing out birth control to stop us reproducing.

15. I'm shocked Georgia youths voted for Obama |
|
Given Georgia's transplants and minority and black voters, I would have expected the youth vote in Georgia to go blue.
The other states that went red were not surprising.
