1. Another goalpost worshiper.
Of course he will 'govern from the middle'. The question remains, exactly what policies will the Obama administration pursue? Or if you insist on worshiping goalposts, what remains to be resolved is exactly where this supposed middle is located.

4. Yeah, I'm stupid. Where exactly is this middle?
What are the policies that will come out of this 'middle'? What will the middle positions be on:

Iraq,
Energy and the environment,
Healthcare,
Education,
The Economic Disaster.

When one party's representatives are almost exclusively rightwing nutjobs, and the other party's representatives are almost exclusively center to center-right moderates, I keep wondering how this purported 'middle' is something I am supposed to be enthusiastic about rather than more of the same only not quite as completely rightwing.

center,center-right democrats--------the 'middle'--------rightwing nutjob republicans.

6. So by your logic, "the middle" means "right wing."

Yeah, that makes sense...

Have you bothered to actually LISTEN to Obama over the last 20 months, or read any of his very detailed policy positions?

9. Better than being a goalpost worshiper, huh?
Edited on Sat Nov-08-08 05:55 PM by ProSense
Obama is the President. Obama laid out specific policies. Obama will execute those policies, no doubt with cooperation, compromise and resistance.

This entire discussion is ludicrous, and it's why you missed the point of this post.

Change means change, and too many people are stuck trying to define intangible goal posts. It's easy to say someone is a nut on the left or right (see OP). Beyond that, Obama is President-Elect, and that alone defines where the country stands. If people want to nitpick about his policies (the ones they elected him just four days ago to implement), I think they should be able to wait until he's actually in office. Wait for him to take any action before trying to define his Presidency. I'll leave the center-right bullshit definitions to the champions of such bullshit.

edited typos.

10. Agree with this...
I am a moderate myself. I can't stand Republican political tactics and I'm not a fan of a lot of their policies, but I'm not that liberal in my own beliefs. I WANT Obama to govern in the middle.

11. Obama is going to govern exactly as he laid out during his campaign.
Edited on Sat Nov-08-08 06:05 PM by ProSense
People can define it however they want to, but that's the reality. He laid out an agenda, and I don't think his positions and his actions in trying to achieve those objectives will be a surprise to anyone. No one knows how the much cooperation or resistance he will encounter, and that will showcase or test his ability to lead.

edited for clarity.

12. Hell, I'm a flaming liberal, and they still yell at me.
If I were running the place we'd be nationalizing the defense contractors and letting the gays get married. But as far as the real world goes, I'm a realist. And if you're not ready to burn at the stake any Democrat that offends in the slightest, by word, deed, or imagined slight, then you're not good enough for the purity testers.
