I think it would be nice to pick one weekend soon and assemble a nice crowd in front of the Naval Observatory to serenade Darth Cheney with an all day chorus of "Get out of Biden's house!".

1. What a disgusting thought. I would have to fumigate and repaint and
replace every carpet and floor. No, I still don't think I could sleep in a place cheney had slept.

so maybe he'll be more into renovation than Mondale, Bush, Quayle, Gore, and Cheney were.

and we should, above all else, respect the constitutional scheme for transitioning from one administration to another. Acting like Obama and Biden are already in charge, when there are several steps still to be taken as provided in the Constitution, would be seen, properly, as arrogant behavior by a large section of the public.

21. As pissed as I still am over their trashy behavior in 2000
Hopefully we are better than that. But not much. It still makes my blood boil remembering how they taunted and vilified Al and Tipper screaming "Get out of Cheney's house" in 2000 after the Supremes stole the election. I don't agree with that behavior but I can't find much fault in people on our side who act similarly.

Its been a miserably painful 8 years. Thank God its almost over.

And thank God friends like you are here to witness that, indeed, democracy will be restored. There were many days when I had real doubt. But we really are back.

The whole family could end up inside a secret bunker twenty thousand leagues below the home's first floor!

Reminds me of that old canard about - How do you know if your Grateful Dead Friends have visited lately??

Answer: You know they have visited because they are still around!

4. for those who don't know or remember, that's what Bush supporters did to Gore in 2000
a bunch of thugs, probably the same ones bussed into to Florida stood out and yelled for Gore to get out of Cheney's house.

it wouldn't matter too much but i think Gore's daughters and the grandbaby were there also.

Would love to see them discuss the generous spirit of the GOP at that time

noting that their hate stoking rallies of 2008 were just a continuation of that meanness that is

central to their core values -- Country Club First.

Edited on Sun Nov-09-08 04:16 PM by kskiska
(snip)

It's actually "a pain in the neck" to be the sibling of a sitting president, she says, and tells how her daughter, Doro Koch, picketed outside Vice President Al Gore's residence "in disguise" during the 2000 recount. "That's Doro!" Mrs. Bush hoots when telling about it. "She felt better" after yelling at the Gores' house for a while, Mrs. Bush says.

Another interesting item on Barbara Bush in this article:

(snip)

At the hospital, she reads a story to some young patients and makes them laugh. But back in the van for the drive home to Kennebunkport, she says that the book she was given to read was without educational value and that the hospital administrators were obsequious--a quality she dislikes. "They thanked me three times, when once would have been fine." Then, softening abruptly, she thinks back to that morning's visit to the hospital's neonatal ICU, where she saw premature infants in incubators. "Where do you draw the line" in saving those who would not have survived in another time? "What kind of quality of life? It's the same thing with old age. Are we doing the right thing?" Then again she says of one severely impaired newborn, "But, they say she's brought great happiness..."

32. Jill should call Lynne and sweetly ask if she could come over next week to measure
the windows for new curtains! I'm sure Lynne's taste in decor was pretty horrible. Jill could bring an interior decorator and they could chat in the middle of the living room about what "has to go" and smirk a little bit at the sofas.

Now I'd like to see the grounds and have a virtual tour of inside (best to wait for that until after 01/20/2009 though). A reading room or a library sounds very cozy...crisp winter air, a crackling fire in the fireplace, an over-sized comfortable chair and something to warm the insides.

Make that a chair for two

47. Both Cheneys deserve to be harassed but Obama and Biden have too much class
One of the Gore daughters, I think it was Kristin, was very upset about people being outside the house and yelling at her family. :( I also think the house must give off a seriously creepy vibe with the Cheneys having lived there for 8 years. Major fumigation and cleaning needs to go on, maybe an exorcism and defiantly some redecoration needs to happen. I hope Joe and Jill brighten the place up. Joe likes to go to home depot a lot so maybe he will enjoy redoing the house. Still, sleeping in the same house Dick and Lynne Cheney once slept in, kind of gross. More gross then moving in after Shrub because Dick Cheney is just plain nasty.
